Air tricks

I really would like to step up my airtricks at the cable park. Do any of you guys have tips on how to consistently land air tricks. How do I load the line then "scoop" off the water for air tricks?

What air tricks do you have that you are stepping up from? Is your problem that you are landing them only occasionally? There are some pretty good youtube tutorials on this.

I can't do a real air trick raley at all. Sorry I worded it wrong. I can sorta feel the pull when I try to load the line but I need lots of tips.

Throwing an air trick is a total commitment. When you get the line loaded you throw the trick. This involves quickly pushing the board into the water. The water grabs the board and throws it up into the air. This act causes the line to load even more and the cable rebounds pulling you upwards and forwards. Get a good grip because it's not like hitting the wake. The cable yanks on the handle pretty hard and you do not want to lose your grip.

There is no trying it a little bit. That will usually involve a face plant. For a backroll look towards your leading shoulder. That video works for both a raley and a roll.

take a tower turn so you've got a tight line, cut back inside a bit so you're under the cable, speed is not your friend when learning, you pretty much just want to turn the board and dig in further and further, as if you were trying to stop the cable, continue increasing the cut, and then I recommend throwing a roll for your first air trick. The scoop will come with practice and timing. Just continue the edging away, and then when you think you can't edge anymore, throw the roll. Keep your arms down and slightly in. Try and make it one easy motion where you roll it on edge and then increase that edge into throwing it up and away.

Where do you ride man?

If you're in NorCal, I'd be happy to teach you out at Velocity Island.

I've been doing air tricks for years and edited some cable instructional content when I worked at Wakeboarding magazine a while ago.
