I might be off base here, but from what I have read and understand you can mount a sub in any direction becasue the way the sound radiates out. I want to mount a sub under my rear seats where there is some dead space. My guess is a box can be built to face the sub down towards the ground and the seat reinstalled. This would be one of 2 12" in the boat. Will this work? Will it sound ok?

mine faces down and hits great. I mean for an 8" jl audio dvc. I love it... it pounds on the hull of the boat and just radiates through the hull of the boat
JJ

My subs face down and port toward the middle of the boat, works great.

One thing to keep in mind... If the sub has a heavy cone it may sag over time.

I have two 10 w3's on a 500/1 they soudn decent. My one 10w6 in a ported box with it's own 500/1 sounds much better.
