Shipping a motorcycle engine - Freight Carrier?
Hey guys, I need to ship an Aprilia V-Twin motorcycle engine from Norcal to Wisconsin. Currently my plan is to build a crate for the 150 pound motor and look for a freight carrier that will take it. Anyone have suggestions on a good, cost effective carrier for something like this?

Try UPS Frieght. I use them all the time at work to ship Pallets 150 lb +. They do a good job. Not sure how cost effective it is though, my customers pay the bill. Im also on the east coast so im not sure how the fright end of UPS works in Norcal. I would think similiar if not the same.

i used www.freightcenter.com in the past. Kind of a hassle but half the price of UPS.

Check Greyhound.

www.forwardair.com specializes in shipping complete bikes. Not sure about motors, but it might be worth a call.

X2 On Grey Hound They might have a Weight limit of around 80bs but BY FAR they are the cheepest I used to ship motors to LA over night for under $70
If the weight limit is a problem you can always take it some what apart and ship in it 2 boxes |
I use a local freight company here in Sacramento for all my shipments. They have done some pretty unique deliveries for me in the past that was normally beyond regular freight channels. The company name is Network Delivery Systems. Their phone # is 916-371-8800. Ask for Rick or Eric. Great guys that can handle just about anything.

I shipped a 450KTM motor in a cooler that was securely wrapped in tape and strapping. Not as big of a motor, but I shipped it from my wife's work and with their discount, it saved me some cash!
