I'm looking into getting a 2007 Malibu (VLX or Sunscape) or Sanger (v215 or v230).

I really like the Sunscape, but it only has the power wedge and no ballast. Will I be able to surf only using the wedge?

How is the wake only using the wedge on a Sunscape LSV 23.

Thank you in advance.

Kevin

Hey Kevin,

The general consensus is that you will need ballast. The wedge only will not give you the wake you need.
When you have the boat sacked out, the wedge helps make the wake taller.

I would stay away from the Sunscape. The VLX would be a better choice. I don't know much about Sanger... but from the thread Dennis mentions, the 237 seems to be dialed.

Honestly I've surfed both and I would say the 215 has a better surf wake then the VLX, I'm a dealer so take it for what it's worth but i just got done surfing the V215 all weekend and the surf wake is great. When we dont have a ton of people we throw about 300 pound's in the rear locker (plus stock) and then a 1,000 triangle sack in the corner of whatever side we're surfing. It also surf's both sides of the boat well.

Try them both out for yourself and let us know what you think.

I surf behind both the Sanger V215 and the VLX and they are comparable. I prefer the Sanger more but then again I sack mine out a bit more too. I'm able to run mine faster and still have a big wake.
