I am taking down my west marine xxl speakers(4of them) because the weight on the tower is just too much. The sway going over rollers is concerning me. I am going to use 6.5 inch coax speakers in some custom cans. What brand is going to be the best sounding at high volumes and be able to hold up to the power. I have plenty of amp power, so that is not a concern. Just looking for brand names such as Focal, Mb quart etc. Thanks for the help

pioneer REV series or the crystal's are the two i would look hard at. John has me leaning more to the crystals though.

Check out www.fluidconcepts.net
The rockstars are light and sound great. I'm putting 6 on my tower and weight shouldn't be a problem.
They look good too!

Oh yeah, I forget, these speakers are Kenwood. And did I mention they sound good?

those are nice, but the price of ready to roll speakers are way too much. I am getting some custom cans made for cheap. and can get my hands on 6.5 inch speakers at cost. For example I can have a complete set of mbquart reference series speakers in aluminum cans (very similar to the boss cans) and the total cost is going to be 220 per pair.

Crystals are great if you don't want to spend a lot of dough.

I would go with the MB Quarts. Any of there referance series will be fine. Boss uses the RSC series in one or two of there sets, And they are not that expensive at all. I would stay away form any of the pioneer, kenwood, and sony's of the electronic world. The Focal seperates are nice, but have heard of some people having problems with them. Boston Acoustics Pro series(My personal favorite, but a little pricy) and Rally series would be nice too. But for the money I would go with MB Quart. Sounds like you were headed in the right direction to start with.

(Message edited by kingpin on May 27, 2003)
