1800 lb trailer winch enough?

I need to get a new winch for my trailer... my current one is about shot as the handle is getting pretty loose and wobbley... I have a Tige 20i will a 1800# winch be enough?

Are the bolt patterns pretty universal for the winches or do I need to watch out for particular ones to fit my current setup?

I would like to get a dual drive 1600# from iboats with the strap installed but I don't know if that will be enough winch for my boat.... someone HELP!!!

I think your good with an 1800 lb winch. You always have your safety chain;) But really, it's not like your hanging a 3500 boat by the winch. It's just holding the bow.

I don't think I have ever used the winch on my trailer to actually winch my boat. Drive in on, clip onto the eye, and get out of the way for the next guy.

If I were to get a new trailer winch I'd be getting the Fulton F2 they have a 2k and a 3.2k model.

yeah my trailer doesn't have a safety chain..... didn't come with one.... adding it to my list of add ons when I redo the trailer

that Fulton F2 looks nice... I might go for the 2000# version

I didn't realize how expensive winches were still I started looking at replacing mine... DANG!!!

I got a 40$ winch from harbor freight. Most the standard winches come from the same factory in china anyways. The fulton is obviously different. But it has worked flawlessly for 3 years now.
