The Murray Photo on the cover, is it real? I think it is. My friend claims it's totally photoshopped. I hate doubters but was wondering what you EXPERTS here on WW think
Have't seen it, but I think WB magazine has so many great pics to pick from and they would never do anything more than touch up in photoshop.

Sick shot!, But I was actually more interested in the headline "Scott Byerly is Wakeboarding Again"

Not to hijack....
no offense but why would wbm photoshop a cover? better yet, why are you being a "doubter" and even question it? it's not like what murray's doing is impossible.
That is SUCH a SIC shot!!!! He probably could have ridden with his chest touching the water but the reflection is so much classier...Great shot WBM!!!!!
incredible
that's maybe the coolest cover I've ever seen
I say Real.
Wow!
I love the shot too. I know what he is doing isn't impossible. My friend, who is into photog, says the reflection isn't real? Something about the lighting, shadows, yada yada yada. I don't buy it. Looks legit to me. Love it.
Real!!!! Joey Meddock and Shaun Murray ROCK!
the best cover ever.
can anyone find just the picture so i can set it as my desktop
real
Its real I just talked to my homie Craig Kotilinek, Managing Editor for WBM. In fact he was shocked that people would ever think they would run a photo shopped cover shot.
I spoke to Murray....not PS there... A great Meddock cover.
Yeah, I definitely think that any accusation of photoshopping a cover on WBM or anything like that is pretty empty. These guys have some of the best photogs around doing these shots with amazing athletes, put the two together, and a photo like this is what's possible. Absolutely beautiful photo! Hats off to Shaun and Meddock! That's a framer right there.
That has to be the best cover shot WBM has ever had.All I can say is wow. Awesome job.

That has got to be my favorite cover shot of all times. I wanna buy that photo to hang....good motivation. I have been subscribed for wbm for 13 years. Just incredible. Good job Murray...simply great shot.
I may be completely off about this one, but I thought I read something about how shots in magazines have to be real and also landed? And what I mean by that is no photoshopping extra height onto a drop (uberlame anyway), and no claiming shots that werent landed.
This picture is awesome, especially because its something so basic to wakeboarding that has been taken to a professional level and made to look perfect. Props to Murray and Meddock.
yep chaser, your friend IS an idiot. Don't be mad though... cuz' now you know, and knowing is half the battle. You can write his name in your book titled "my friends who try to put their pants on both legs at a time while standing up", and you can carry this book around with you so that when your friends say something that sounds stupid, you can open up your book and see if their name is in it.

Murray said it was real. period.

(is their a way to make a period at the end of a sentence bigger, so that instead of having to write "period" you could just use an actual period at the end of the sentence to get the same point across?)
+1 to best cover ever.

I def want it to be my computer wallpaper as well...does anyone have the original pic??

Truely amazing photo, I have in my truck and last night all my friends were looking at it, even people that know nothing about wakeboarding were saying what an amazing pic it is. My fav by far!
Real for sure!!!
let me rephrase joe haha

does anyone have the original pic to post so i can make it my wallpaper?
i highly doubt anyone else has the original other than the mag and the photographer. it's a mag cover.
Sick photo!!
no harm in asking. i love the pic so much i want it...would even pay for it.
I could see the reflection being enhanced a little to bring out some of the details but other than that its a sick cover shot! Definitely the coolest I've ever seen.
Totally fake. How could a reflection be three dimensional and show the back side of him? Look, the blue behind his head on the vest could never be transfered to the water. Still pretty cool though.
Are you serious?...When looking in the mirror dead-on, then you wouldn't be able to see anything on his backside, but this is from a side angle
It's real. I have the original in my iphoto, but no, I can't send it to anyone
Thanks for all the positive feedback. It was something I had been messing around doing, trying to see how low I could get my body to the water while staying straight. One time I spun out on my chest cuz I got too low. I told Joey I wanted to try to get a shot of it and that morning it happened to be a mirror for the first pass. When he got home and mailed me the pics, we both flipped out! If you turn the cover slightly to the right, it is actually level with the horizon so you can see how close I was trying to get to the water. I think they framed it a little off so the spray was square to the left side of the page?
The hardest part was staying locked like that for a couple minutes while we shot it. I had to rest every 20 secs or so.
Next time you get out to ride, especially if it's glassy, giver' a go and seeing your reflection is a trip.
Thanks again
Shaun
must be nice to be perfect! (Joe)
Shaun - thanks for always being a part of the WW community, even with some of the negativity! It is such an amazing shot that it is hard to wrap your brain around! Congrats & I personally look forward to seeing your Blind Judge at Wake Games!!
i think i see a trip to the boarding school this spring in my future...
mike must be chase's friend.
awesome shaun! thanks for posting
Wakeboarding Mag should make this into a full size poster. I would definetely buy and hang it on my wall. Sick shot!
rocking pic.

I want one
I think it's photoshopped! Murray doesn't have that much hair....
hahaha ^^^^^ nice one Hahn.
Amazing work..
Excellent pic.
Very, very cool picture! The only thing that would have made it better is if Murray was looking straight down at the water making it appear like he was looking at himself. Good job guys.
Unreal
Purely awesome talent. Its not a simple move. To get that low and hold that for 2 minutes. Amazing display of discipline and strength. Keep up the. Awesome riding.
dude its Murray, hes a BAMF
Such style on and off the water.
BEST WBM cover picture ever....... and who better to show case that master piece than Shaun Murray.
House of Style baby, House of Style . . .
Congrats to Mr. Murray. Perfect combination...one of the best WBM covers by one of the best ambassadors of the sport. I think they captured the soul of the sport in this shot.
You better have some made up for Wake Games Shaun. I want a signed one, That's a keeper!
Little bit of a better shot of it, from wakeboarding mag's webpage:

Liking the uncropped version so much more. That would make for a hell of a poster.
I agree Cody....that is a much better angle...it shows how low he really is to the water.....wow!! Shaun....you never cease to amaze me!!!
Nice work Mr. Murray, nice work.
Buy the print or poster here:

http://joeymeddock.tumblr.com/post/369421829/murray-mirror-carve
Meddock and Murray, nice work guys... that is amazing.
im really curious on how to do this. I feel like if I tried to do that...my board would start skipping out. Murray, you're a machine
Awesome Pic, simply awesome!
Thanks Cody... just made that my phone background looks sick
That's a killer shot
Case closed. Thanks for chiming in Shaun. Awesome shot...amazing.
Just insane. Best shot in a long time. Much better than the ordinary spin/ grab.
smokin' monkey..
Thanks Shaun. For posting the last word on this picture. Met you at the 2009 Heber Wakefest in Arkansas and knew the photo was real if it had your name attached. Even up here in Wisconsin we have been defending the integrity of this photo. It is hard for photographers to believe it is not edited because a shot as pure as this one is so hard to get. The conditions have to be just perfect and that includes the lighting which is provided by God. Sometimes your window for taking a shot like this is just a mere seconds. I am with everyone else who wants to buy it and hang it up. I am drawn to stare at that cover and so is everyone I show it to. That mirror image is absolutely magical. I predict you and Mr Meddock are going to rake in some cash on this one.
comp background, phone background and buying the poster next week!
Congrats guys it is one of my fav covers ever! I will think about getting the poster.
OK Shaun the hubby wants more. What speed? How long of rope? We have to know this is like the sickest surface trick out there.
Thanks for all the great feedback once again! Normal set up. 24.4 mph, 80'. I've recently shortened my rope up because I feel like the wake has more meat there and the rope isn't pulling away as much. Thanks again everyone.
That would make a nice poster!
It's not on par with Joey's work but here's another shot of Shaun that turned out really well. I can't remember who snapped it or I would give photo credit.

i wonder how many people are gona try to duplicate this trick/ shot on their own this season?
.
..
...
if you do PLEASE PLEASE take some video of it:
1.) to show how its done and show off in general
2.) I wana see/show the gnarly eyelid peeling crashes involved in attempting it ;)
I agree as i dont think people realise how hard this trick would be to do.
I also want to see a video or pic of anyone else doing it,i bet yas cant.
Also if someone thought my pics were to amazing to be real & questioned whether they were photo shopped because the pic was so perfect i would be flattered & he was just asking the question give him a break guys.
When Shaun was here(CWC) last year id have to say he was the most creative rider ive ever seen always coming up with crazy & often very dangerous things to do whether the camera was there or not.
Was surprised that one of the craziest things he did while filming here didnt get featured on Global warning, hope one day it will pop up on youtube or maybe when he has a documentary done on his life or something.
Great pic guys.
