tractor salvage yards usually have the spare plates that they put on the front of various tractors for down on the money... i bought 4 100# plates for $50, then painted them with colored epoxy and with their built in handles, they have been great...

if you're real resourceful, you can usually find tire shops that are willing to give you their used buckets of lead weights used for balancing, then you can melt into blocks in foil pans and you can create any size, shape, weight you want. however, metal clips from the lead pieces can be tricky to remove before or after melting... not fun having blocks with shrapnel protruding...

A-1 Alloys in National City or try Industrial Metal Supplies in Kearny Mesa.

75lb lead bars 3x4x18
25lb lead bars 2x4x8

I have seen prices anywhere from .50 a lb to .85 a lb at both places.

The lead bars take up less room for the amount of weight in my opinion.

Good luck

eric ~ I don't think Mike wants to sell any of his lead, but I could be wrong. I will be a BV this weekend and Club Joe Resort. Great times at BV lately. How is your face? Are you riding yet? Let me know when you go out next. maybe I will tag along if there is room.

I can put you in contact with Troy. His Pop Products bags are it! 40lbs ea, and they conform to the shape of any compartment you put them in. Shoot me an email if you want more info...

socalwakepunk 05-18-2005 4:43 PM

Erik, are you looking for a pull this weekend?

ramhouse 05-18-2005 5:24 PM

Try a shooting range. I got mine there and put it into some 4" pvc tubes. A 24" long tube holds about 30#. That is what i use. I carry 750# spread around the boat and you don't see any of it.
