We're about to start building the next mighty Malibu that will represent WakeWorld, a 2008 VLX. I'm fooling with the colors and so far this is what I like best; simple black and white. I dislike the graphics. My 2 cents.

Malbu offers three shades of blue: vapor, dark and midnite. Vapor is that lighter blue, dark blue is a bit darker than a Dodger blue, and the midnite is a dark navy blue.

The midnight blue doesn't seem that dark to me. I want a blue that's almost black.

Ok, thanks, but I'm not really looking for a critique of the graphics since that's not something I have the power to change. Just looking for ideas on how to make the colors look better.

yea dave your last boat the yellow on black was sick. thats BLAH! IMO you might want a boat that when everyone sees it they think of WW. So stand out a little more. my .01

How about a big Wakeworld logo instead of the Wakesetter logo.

I am sure malibu is giving them a huge discount on the boat. I doubt they want to lose exposure by not putting 'wakesetter' on the boat.

I think the Wakesetter Graphics are sick, but I wouldn't mind seeing an old school color scheme . . . new boat with late '70s Brown, Orange, and Yellow paint job.

The Wakesetter logo is going to be slightly different. The one you see is one of the choices for '07. I've seen the '08 version and it is similar. From what they're telling me, they will only have one choice for 2008, which is a little disappointing. I like the variety they've had in the past. Hopefully, that will change. <BR> <BR>Roddy's is pretty cool and that is one that I'm considering as well. The good thing about that one is that all the gel coat inside the boat (that everyone will be touching) will be white instead of black. That will reduce burning and visible scratches. <BR> <BR>Al...like a train wreck. I don't want to own a $70,000 boat that even the most evil thieves refuse to steal because of the color scheme! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0>

I am not really a big fan of green, but for some reason I have always liked the greens that Malibu has put out there. A green/white combo or green/black combo would look cool. As for the Black/white combo, I like the one that RoddyRod posted.

There was a tan/cream VLX with a matching tan tower at the spring ride. It was one of coolest cleanest VLX's I've ever seen.

im surprized that no one has noticed the change in the tower for 08. slightly taller and slightly different shape. take a seccond look at the color scetches

The wakesetter graphic loks great. That tribal stuff is played out.

They should bring back the CFT Blade tower.

yea based upon the look of the scethes im not sure im too into it right now but i also didnt like the illusion tower when it first came out to well see. but it will be good as far as making it taller becuase i always hit my freakin head on my friends speakers. <BR> <BR>i agree with matt that the tribal is way played out.

Guys, the images above are from the Malibu website, which is still showing 2007 boats and towers. It's just a cartoon rendering of the boat and Illusion X, so don't read anything into it. <BR> <BR>I did get to see some pics of the Illusion XS tower and it has some very cool changes. I'm not sure if the height has changed or not, but I'm hoping that is what we'll have on our boat. <BR> <BR>All white is one of my favorites and that's what we had with our previous Wakesetter. The funny thing is that it was a total head-turner because nobody does all white. I'm going to check with them to see if the tower colors can be anything but black. That boat with the brown tower looks incredible!

Dave W- I'd suggest heading out to a local Malibu dealer and checking out the colors in question in person before you decide on colors. Wow, I like that all-white boat, but I think they need a white bimini as well! That's definitely going into the consideration list. So does Malibu make the tower available in different colors or are all these colored towers custom painted?

Dave, <BR>Are you talking to Malibu, or just getting into deciding what you want to do? <BR> <BR>I would think that because your choosing Malibu as your boat, and also the fact that it's the official Wakeworld boat, they would help you out with repainting the tower, a slightly darker or lighter shade of a current color and more. Yes this will make a custom boat, but your resale at that point is better too. And look who it is for.

Yes, I've been talking with Malibu, just trying not to bug them too much with all my questions. <IMG SRC="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" ALT=":-)" BORDER=0> I'd like to get a stock color because the purpose is to promote the boat and I don't want a bunch of potential customers running to Malibu asking for a color that is not available. <BR> <BR>It looks like the tower color can be something other than black, so that makes me lean towards the all-white version even more. If I could get it with a white tower, bimini and swimstep grip (not sure about those last two), that would look insane!! <BR> <BR>Sorry to tease you guys earlier on the Illusion XS tower change, but apparently that's only for the 247 and 23 boats. The VLX will have the same Illusion X tower.

I like the all white too. Looks sharp, easy to sell, low maintenance.
