Our New Tow Vehicle

Well it was about time to get into something new, so we got rid of the 06 tahoe and went with this!

Audi Q7 S line with EVERY OPTION available.. it was the perfect balance of something fun to drive and a tow vehicle! Paddle shifters, air ride suspension that can lower and raise itself 4" with a touch of a button.. backup camera which is a MUST have... I want one for my truck now!

wakereviews 03-24-2010 7:58 AM

wow, that is very nice. what is the tow capacity on those?

hatepain 03-24-2010 8:02 AM

I really like these, and will defeinately consider it whenever I get rid of my tahoe. they are pricey though.

I've always been an Audi fan/owner... I love em... I wish I woulda picked up the Q7... i went Land Rover instead because of price.. but I am drooooling over this one. :D

Congrats!! Sickkkk ride!

Thanks for all the compliments! Towing Capacity is 6600lbs which is no problem for my Sanger.. and with the air ride system it just adjusts to level.. the backup camera makes it so easy to hook up as well....

I love it!

Congrats on the purchase!

You'll find that most trailers for wakeboats are catered to hitch hieghts on new large American made trucks and such.

I had to get a reciever with a 3/4" step up to have the trailer level on the comfort setting.

It does tow like a dream with the V8 or TDI....

Nice truck man, Those Q7's are nasty, especially if they have the TDI

gregtay 03-25-2010 12:05 PM

Very nice! Congrats. My wifes next car is the Q7 TDI S-line. Welcome to the club of "Wow.. these Germans really know how to build a car that can tow big loads with amazing ease and stability... and it doesn't have to be the size of Texas!" ... there were designed to do it!! Just wait till you hook up the boat and the parking distance control ont eh nav screen shows you a trailer behind the car:).. it switches to "Tow Mode" and everything on the car adjust for towing. My V10 Touareg is basically the same car.. same air susp, etc... and i can honestly say it tows better than my Armada did.

Congrats.. and welcome to the club.. you are going to love it!

One other small comment.. if your reverse camera turns off the moment you shift out of REV (which is annoying when trying to line up with trailer) you can easily mod it... You need a VAG-COM cable (get one.. it's priceless when owning a VW/Audi) and you can log into the Rev Camera controller (using your laptop and the VAGCOM cable.) The controller has an option to switch to "Rest of World Mode (it is likely in USA mode now.) Rest Of World mode allow the camera to stay active/on when you shift out of "R".. it stays on for 20-30 seconds or when the car reaches 10 MPH.. then it switches back to the nav/MMI screen. Takes 30 seconds to make the change (you basically check a box on the screen and hit commit.) If you are anywhere near Seattle you are welcome to use my VAGCOM cable. cheers.

Tows better than most full sized trucks...

Key feature is also the 6sp transmission!

1-4 close ratio for good pulling power for accelleration... keeps in the tq band!
5-6 long gears for improved gas milage on the highway

Supringly stays in 6th most of the time unless it's an incline at 70mph.

Air suspension doesn't move with the tongue wieght at all...

extremeisaac 03-25-2010 11:35 PM
