Remember your first board?

I was looking around the site last night and stumbled into the gear section. I actually found the first board I ever owned. I got a few good laughs as I read some of the reviews on the gear from back in the day.
http://www.wakeworld.com/products/in...oduct_list&c=1 Here is my first which I still have...1999 Hyperlite Charge 147. What was yours? |
2003 or 2004 O'Brien Science...Yellow one....great board
|
obrien evil twin.
wanted a flight 69 sooooooooooo bad, barts water sports had a blemish evil twin, and the rest is an addiction |
1998 Hyperlite Camano
Wish I still had it Still have my second board - 1999 hyperlite drifter 136 honeycomb Will never get rid of it If anybody has an old camano....let me know, I'd love to have it |
|
skurfer blast. got it the spring of 1990. kept it for several years as I bounced between that and my ski. first real board was an LF Free 135 which I picked up in I believe 1995 or 1996. wish I still had that one.
|
Best graphics ever Joe, loved that board!!
|
My first board was the 02 CWB Absolute shape. That was a great board and very beginner friendly. It was loose enough with a small fin to be fun, but forgiving enough and set a nice edge for a beginner. I had several riders on the boat with more advanced boards who were trying to stick a trick and both times they stuck the trick on the Absolute first.

I learned to ride on my friend's Connelly Bladerunner that looked just like this one
Attachment 309 Attachment 310 My first board was a 1998 O'brien Buzz, I love that board because it was mine and I could ride anytime i wanted, looking back it was the worst riding board I have ever touched. Attachment 311 |
'96 Connely Blade Runner.
Jeremy Kovak style, baby. |
This was the first twin tip I ever bought. I also had an Obrien Apex skiboard, but couldn't find a pic of it.
Bindings were a different story. I went through so many bindings back then, it seems like I owned every pair that was out. http://www.wakeworld.com/products/im...5_brdbsdt2.gif |

Can't find a picture of mine. Was a Neptune GTO package from a local boat shop.
|
'95 or '96 Connelly Blade. It was sick! Sandal bindings on that bad boy directional board. Upgraded to a Connelly Switchstance the next year or two later.
|
99 OBRIEN BLUNT
http://www.wakeworld.com/products/im...27_99ob385.jpg |
mine was an old black and red evolution that had hols in the bottom of it because the bolts for the bindings were too long and they went strait through the bottom
|
Ok so I rode a board I have never seen before or since and it's not on the wakeworld here.
It is a circa 95 Neptune "Vicious Fishes" model. I know it was either the or one of the first twin tip designs ever made. Anyone else of heard of it? I still have it today....just don't ride it :) . Here's the only pic of it I have right now.... and I promise you I am NOT high in this picture hahaha. http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-...85854_4813.jpg |

CWB phantom! Not sure what year though. It was blue and had about 2 inch fins on it!
|
gdavid, that is the board I learned on! Classic.
My first board that the family bought was the Wake Tech Big Air. After that we got a LF Free 135 in the classic oatmeal color (Train, I still have it!). Then the first board I bought myself was the O'brien Evil Twin, learned my first inverts on that bad boy. |
1) was the Hyperlite BAFF ( Bad A$$ Flying Fish)
2) Waketech Byerly Blunt 3) Blindside - don't remember model Have more but those are the oldest boards I have. Best part is I have kept all my boards from over the years from the beginning. They will get mounted in my man cave on day with all my snowboards. Once I have a man cave anyway.lol. Need a bigger house first. |
I remember that I had a hyperlite skurfer as my first board, but don't remember the model of it. Just remember that when I first started nobody else was doing it on my lake so I had no idea how to get up....Took me a couple of hours of being dragged around on the board to be able to stand up.

|
Andy that picture is classic!!!!
Before I got my Hyperlite Charge, I used to ride a directional red HO board (tri fin) with sandal bindings behind a Sea Doo. It was awesome. |

I had some strange ones.

I still have a good condition Origin Skull that I am interested in selling if either of you are interested. Blew my knee before I could really ride it much. It does have some slider marks, but core is still in great shape. Just been sitting in the garage.

Darin C - I've got a nearly pristine Weddington in my garage. Not sure if I'd want to get rid of it, I loved that board despite it landing like a ton of bricks.

I'd be up for one of the Origin's, but don't wanna pay much
|
Anyone know where I can get a pic of the Duvall Victory Assured?..it had some serious phasers.
|
God I remember hanging with Shaprio in like 1994, and he had epoxied the last two phasers on his hyperlite pro saying it made the board better. SO what did I do, I went home and screwd up my pro with epoxy!!! HAHAHAHA

132 Neptune World with some sick double up bindings.
The deck was epic, there was a cowboy pointing at your nuts with a 6-shooter. I still have this bad boy laying around in the garage and one of these days i'll turn it into a wakeskate or a wall shrine. |
Real board?
According to this guy there was a Wake Tech Eric Perez........
http://www.wakeworld.com/news/featur...-e-deegan.html |
There was a wake tech perez, it just wasn't one of the first twins to come out. I think it first appeared in 1997.
|
Is it this?

A-dub, that's the one. It's also in the wakeworld gear guide jobby. There are pics of so many old boards I felt like I was looking at a buyer's guide from 1996.:)
since I'm here I'll add my first board: connelly dually from 1996. I went round and around on what board I wanted...a sea horse, an impala, blah blah blah, but that dually won out on celebrity worship. I remember being so pumped when my shop got that board...I special ordered it with the "high end" boots at the time. the days!!! |
