wakerider111 10-09-2008 7:06 PM

waterdork88 10-09-2008 8:03 PM

WOW!!!!!!

jarrod 10-09-2008 9:05 PM

That was amazing.

srh00z 10-09-2008 9:18 PM

That was cool, in the slow-mo you can see him barefoot with the free foot to get his balance back. Did anybody ever see the footage of his triple front attempts at Parks Double or Nothing contest a few years back. WBM had a bunch of stills of his attempts and he was getting back to his board, but he was so compressed that he didn't ride one out.

helix_rider 10-10-2008 6:08 AM

Dang...that was nuts. If that happened to me my left knee would have been torn to shreds (of course, I could never get around on a double...so I don't have to worry )

Youtube's blocked here at work, but I imagine thats the video of shapiro doing the speedball and coming out of the bindings? Incredible ...

homedawg678 10-10-2008 2:55 PM

That was one of the coolest things I have ever seen...

nuckledragger 10-10-2008 8:42 PM

I remember sittig at home back in the day hoping that wakeboarding would show up on ESPN2. That was when Shapiro dominated the scene and Parks was a Grom.

Those telecasts usually mixed wakeboarding with some type of waterskiing.

westsiderippa 10-10-2008 8:53 PM

wow i feel old watching that, f-ing sick by the way, but i used to love chillin out watchin espn "hot summer nights" man times have changed. fuel, dvd, etc..... darin is a legond!!!!!!!!!

bob 10-12-2008 7:06 AM

"I just put on the death grip and held on" who else can say that?
I saw Murray do the speedball at pensacola a few years back, it happens so fast in real time its hard to follow.

waterdork88 10-12-2008 1:31 PM

murray can do a speedball? i thought shapiro was the only one

mattfla 10-12-2008 7:28 PM

he is, murray has never done a double anything.

mattfla 10-15-2008 7:41 AM

I just got home from Ride the Spot and had an awesome time getting coached by the legend!
His set up is sweet. I am coming back in the spring for sure!

eubanks01 10-15-2008 8:47 AM

Nice elephant! That thing was turned back soooo late!

10-15-2008 11:18 AM

Anyone know what year that was? Looked like about mid-nineties. I didn't know he was doing speedballs back then. Really incredible!

electricsnow 10-15-2008 1:15 PM

I would say (i.e. educated guess) it was from 1998. That event was one of the sea world double up events. DEFINITELY some classic riding, and that was a cool event because you'd have dudes like randall, gregg, thomas, and scott all riding at that event.

ryan_shima1 10-15-2008 3:13 PM

It was 98 because that was the last summer he was with HL. After the last Pro Tour comp in Sac, he switched to Obrien. The first year I remember seeing him land a Speedball was in early 97 (his comeback year after a season off to let an ankle injury heal up). But he was trying them as far back as 95 on his old directional HL pro model.

to_blind 10-15-2008 4:10 PM

IGO 2 BIG,

CHECK THE MURRAY VID SOMEONE JUST POSTED ON HERE, AT THE END, DURING THE CREDITS, HE(MURRAY) IS HUCKING SOME DOUBLE BACK ROLLS...

SORRY FOR CAPS.

10-15-2008 7:30 PM

You got to be kidding me, that was nuts, one foot.

lostkgb78 10-17-2008 3:13 PM

April 98

mattfla 10-17-2008 4:24 PM

to blind

yeah, but he never made one

10-17-2008 7:20 PM

With all the style Murray has, he doesn't need to be throwing double inverts.
