So I got to get out on the R5 and Local last night, both very fun rides. Here are some pics: <BR> <BR><b>The Local</b> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584512.jpg" alt="1"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584513.jpg" alt="2"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584514.jpg" alt="3"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584515.jpg" alt="4"> <BR> <BR><b>The R5</b> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584516.jpg" alt="5"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584517.jpg" alt="6"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584518.jpg" alt="7"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584519.jpg" alt="8"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584520.jpg" alt="9"> <BR> <BR>I may be biased, but I must say: My wife did a great job taking the pix<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/kiss.gif" border=0>

eubanks01 05-28-2008 7:51 AM

Just looking at your facial expressions made me tired!

andy_nintzel 05-28-2008 7:57 AM

Man I gotta post some of me jibbing on the R5, dang photogs havent sent me any photos yet.

j_money 05-28-2008 8:31 AM

Whats that local all about???? Does it pretty much have the mannerisms of a regular board or is it mostly just a jib / rail board???

jjakober 05-28-2008 8:54 AM

Jesse, <BR> <BR>The Local rides like a regular wakeboard, just with more flex. It's construction is such that it is stiffer in the center of the board and gets softer towards the tip and tail.

j_money 05-28-2008 9:23 AM

Dang might have to check one out.... I know I have said it before but its shape looks a lot like the obrien demented and as most on here know I am obsessed with that board!!!

jjakober 05-28-2008 9:56 AM

Good eye Jesse, the shape of the Local is based on the Demented<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>

j_money 05-28-2008 10:28 AM

IM BUYIN ONE! Where can I get it???

j_money 05-28-2008 10:32 AM

Found it on the House for $250!!! Is that gonna be the best place to buy??? Im sure Andy Nintzel will say yes.

jjakober 05-28-2008 10:59 AM

The House looks like a great place to get it, they seem to have good prices on all their stuff.

andy_nintzel 05-28-2008 11:21 AM

Yeah Jesse The House is a great place to buy one, go talk to Sean Barrett tell him I sent you, he might knock off a couple of bucks.

j_money 05-28-2008 11:45 AM

SWEET!!! THANKS guys!!!!! I really appreciate it!

ethan31 05-28-2008 3:28 PM

I want a local really bad. <BR> <BR>Sick pictures.

rdhwk10 05-28-2008 5:07 PM

How much flex does the local have in comparison to a slingshot?? I am interested in trying flex and the local seems to be a more reasonable price for something brand new

srh00z 05-28-2008 6:51 PM

I'm surprised it is that cheap. I am glad that board companies are looking at alternative materials, flex patterns and shapes these days. These have something other than wood for the core right?

ethan31 05-28-2008 6:56 PM

EVA

srh00z 05-28-2008 7:07 PM

That is what I was thinking Nintzel mentioned in one of his posts. Thanks Ethan.

jjakober 05-28-2008 7:09 PM

Craig, <BR> <BR>Here is a link to a short video I made of me stepping on the Local 138 to show it's flex. <BR> <BR><a href="http://good-times.webshots.com/video/3040273900103314895NsPFEc" target="_blank">http://good-times.webshots.com/video/3040273900103314895NsPFEc</a> <BR> <BR>I weigh about 180 lbs. my son weighs about 70 lbs. <BR> <BR>I remember seeing a video of a guy stepping on a Slingshot and it behaved about the same. <BR> <BR>Hope this helps.

rdhwk10 05-28-2008 7:43 PM

that's a pretty cool video. seems to have quite a bit of flex. i might have to pick one up. i hope they can keep them in stock.

wakerider111 05-28-2008 8:07 PM

very interesting. <BR> <BR>nice pics and vid <BR> <BR>from the looks of things it looks as if the little knick in the tip and tail of the board was made a bit smaller... does it serve any purpose?

jjakober 05-28-2008 8:27 PM

Jeremy, <BR> <BR>Other then to add a little something to the tip/tail of the board, I don't believe it serves a purpose.

intotheflats 05-29-2008 8:56 AM

Is the Local just a flexboard similar to all the others like the R5 and Roam or is it meant to be ridden off the wake as well? Both of them look really good though

andy_nintzel 05-29-2008 8:57 AM

Here's a few Horrible Shots of me riding the R5 as a wake board. It pops really nice, a little hard to get it to edge but really fun to ride. I will post some jibbing pics as soon as I get. <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584906.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584907.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584908.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584909.jpg" alt="Upload"> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584910.jpg" alt="Upload">

andy_nintzel 05-29-2008 8:59 AM

Sorry it was almost dark when these shots were taken.

j_money 05-29-2008 9:14 AM

Well just got off the phone with Sean at the House and ordered up the 144 Local!!! Couldnt have talked to a nicer guy Sean was way cool!!! Thanks Andy for the reference!!! Ill let everyone know what its about when I get it!!!

jjakober 05-29-2008 10:07 AM

Josh, <BR> <BR>The Local is a Flex wakeboard. The added flex gives the board different riding characteristics then a traditional wakeboard that some riders really like. <BR> <BR>Here is a shot going w2w: <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/584958.jpg" alt="1">

intotheflats 05-29-2008 11:16 AM

jakober, <BR> <BR>so does it ride similar to a normal wakeboard or is it more comparable to putting fins on the R5

jjakober 05-29-2008 11:29 AM

Josh, <BR> <BR>It rides like a normal wakeboard.<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/happy.gif" border=0>

srh00z 05-29-2008 3:36 PM

How slippery is the Local? Doesn't look like much is going on on the bottom of the board as far as channels. It looks really thin. The Roam got snapped I think I might want to pick up a Local to replace it.

jjakober 05-30-2008 8:53 AM

Stephen, <BR>The Local is flat on the bottom. It has removable fins so it can be made as loose(smaller fins/no fins) or as tight(larger fins) as you want it to be. The edge of the board is completely rounded, so you will be relying on the fins and good edging technique to generate line tension.

jjakober 05-30-2008 8:59 AM

Jesse, <BR> <BR>What size Demented do you currently ride? I was curious because I see you ordered the Local 144 and that’s a pretty big board. I think the Local 138 might be a better fit for you. Are you a big dude? <BR> <BR>jjakober

andy_nintzel 05-30-2008 9:05 AM

I rock the 144 and I am big dude, but I must say the 144 feel bigger to me than my 144 natty does.

j_money 05-30-2008 9:47 AM

Im 6'2 200 and my demented is a 141. Anything smaller than 139 or so feels squirrely to me. I like the bigger decks so I think it will work out fine. But thanks for the concern!

jjakober 05-30-2008 9:56 AM

Jesse, <BR> <BR>Yes you qualify as a Big Dude!! <BR> <BR>Sounds like the 144 should be perfect.

j_money 05-30-2008 9:57 AM

<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> Good!!! Im super PUMPED to get on that thing!!!

jjakober 06-03-2008 9:42 AM

My friend Rick Knott got out on the Local last night. Here are 2 shots showing that, YES, it rides like a wakeboard! <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/586742.jpg" alt="1"> <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/586743.jpg" alt="2">

andy_nintzel 06-03-2008 10:36 AM

J- <BR> <BR>your wake looks sick bro-

fullonsalesgrp 06-03-2008 10:59 AM

JJ rocking the salt a pepper man we are getting old. <BR>Dad said its all down hill after 35. <BR>Boards like slick I was think'n SS but might be easier on the pocket book to look at OB

rknott 06-03-2008 11:04 AM

Prior to taking the Local for a spin, I had been given the Slingshot a try and having a tough time adjusting to it. Once I made a few jumps on the Local I felt like I was wakeboarding again. The flex was moderate, but really fun. It is a unique ride for sure. I can't wait to give it another go.

jjakober 06-03-2008 11:35 AM

Andy, <BR>Yeh the '07 210 wake is pretty sweet! <BR> <BR>Itch, <BR>The grey is coming on strong, but I would rather be grey then follicly challenged! <BR> <BR>Rick, <BR>My previous statement was not meant to be a dig on you!!

jjakober 06-03-2008 11:44 AM

Andy, <BR>Check out the sweet wrap on the boat: <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65919/586756.jpg" alt="1"> <BR> <BR>Here is a link to a write up about the wrap from "The Wakeboard Report", with more pics. <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.wakeboardreport.com/archives/2007/08/best_boat_wrap_weve_seen_on_a.html" target="_blank">http://www.wakeboardreport.com/archives/2007/08/best_boat_wrap_weve_seen_on_a.html</a>

srh00z 06-03-2008 12:01 PM

Great wrap on the boat. I saw that on the wakeboardreport.com and I liked the theme and thought the execution was great. The Local is looking better and better to me.

andy_nintzel 06-03-2008 12:59 PM

Noooiiiiiccccceeeee! That ride looks classic!

to_blind 06-03-2008 1:45 PM

ordered my local 144 just a few minutes ago..can't wait to try it out...anyone have any good pics of this thing being flexed...either off or on the water??

jjakober 06-03-2008 1:49 PM

^^^^Look Up^^^^ <BR> <BR>There is even a video if the board flexing<img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/biggrin.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>It's not the 144 but the board lay-up is the same

wakeboardmatt 06-03-2008 5:31 PM

It may be a dumb question but what are the notches taken out of the tip and tail for?

j_money 06-03-2008 6:37 PM

Hey J: <BR>Gray hair is a sign of wisdom. You should be proud!!! <BR> <BR>Matt: It looks sweeter with the notches out! <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0>
