; I f you live or ride in Orlando (particularly District 4) there is an important meeting about our lakes. They are talking about changing the water levels and possibly skimming water to return to the aquifer and/or using for irrigation. As you can see below, there are boating issues to discuss, My guess is it will be important to be there so that owners and riders can have a voice.

(BTW - I'm not sure about whether the current thinking of South FLorida Water mgt is to raise or lower the lakes - I've heard both in past meetings. )
***
Tomorrow night at the Orange County extension -
JANUARY 9, 2008 6:30-8:30 PM

ORANGE COUNTY UF/IFAS EXTENSION OFFICE

6021 SOUTH CONWAY ROAD (Between Hoffner and 528)

Orange County Commission District 4

You are cordially invited to attend a District 4 Lake Issues Meeting hosted by

Commissioner Linda Stewart and the Environmental Protection Division. What lakes are in district 4?

While I'm not sure about all of them - I know that Whippoorwill, Mary Jane and Hart are and some lakes around Gatlin - so I'm assuming the Conway chain (or at least part of it). In any case - my guess is that whatever happens in this district will affect others as well (good or bad).
