when the damper plate goes out will it make the engine run rough. it has a slight clunking noise in neautral when its at idle to 1500 rpm.when i rev it a little. Where do i start the diagnostics? let me know what to check and how to tell if its that or not.

you have to adjust the iddle screw on the carb.
