so i was at boardstock and anyone who was there saw how nasty the water was. i filled my ballast a few times and im afraid i may have sucked up some of that hydrilla . i was thinking about putting some bleach in the tanks. will that kill the weed? i also had about 10 pounds of that stuff wrapped around my prop and shaft. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by rodltg2 on October 01, 2007)

Chlorine bleach makes plastics brittle. Go to a wine making or home brew store and get some of their sterilizer. It'll kill everything and not wreck anything in the components. yeah, very pretty pink color and you can reuse it for a while. I'll warn you, do NOT smell it when you flush the tanks, that stuff doesn't seem to have an odor but it gets into your lungs and just ... it's nasty, makes you cough, kind of like if you do exercise in the extreme cold, lung freeze kind of thing. The good thing is, having a glass of wine seems to make it better, until you stop drinking it...so there's a gotcha. Just keep drinking wine until you pass out, should you get that crap in your lungs!
