Hey everyone. A group of buddies and I are looking to head out of state to go wakeboarding during the last two weeks of march. We were looking at heading to Nevada. Any suggestions on where to go? Thanks

Any where near Reno here may be sort of cold during that time, but you can try some where like Shasta or Lake Orovile both warm water lakes and nice. About 3 hours from Reno. There may be a few lakes around closer but i still think it may be a little cool...Boca and Stampede reserviors (sp?), Almanor, Tahoe= FREEZING and not to fun for boarding but super pretty, Pyramid, Lahontan and a few others....sorry if that wasnt much help!

(Message edited by hyprlightborder on January 07, 2005)

Hmmmm.....Lake Mead, is probably the best lake in NV.

Hoover Dam! I would suggest Lake Mead or possibly Lake Tahoe.

I think we were riding Pyramid during that time last year? Drysuit is a must!!

Looks like you're coming down from Oregon. Shasta is probably closest, but I would guess it would be pretty cold b/c its at a fairly high altitude and I've been there in early June and had it be somewhat cold still.

I live in Truckee, commute to Reno, and hit up Tahoe, Boca, and Stampede regularly and usually hit up Lahontan a couple times a year, which is East of Reno. I would recommend going to CA and hitting up Don Pedro, New Melones, or the Delta at the lower elevations. You'll be drysuiting for sure up here and will have to hope for optimal conditions to even have a shot to go out whereas you could feasibly get away with trunking it down there if the conditions are right and will be fine in a 3/2 wetsuit.

Last year was a warm, early Spring and we were in Tahoe as early as March 5, so it can be done. You may be able to hit up a day on the slopes and the lake if you come up here, though, which is always nice.

I've done all of those Bay Area spots around that Spring Break time to good success. Make sure you check the weather close to your trip as it can vary from 40's to 80's depending on weather cycle. Good luck.
