what are the worst-best wakeboard cores(ex.foam core, C.A.P.T)?

Well usually standard cores are heavier and more durable, but higher end cores are typically lighter, a lot more flexible and thus less durable.

(Message edited by icangetup on July 07, 2004)

but like is foam or C.A.P.T a good core or like compression moulded fiberglass?

Adam, you've got them all confused. My board is a foam core, has CAPT & is made with a process using compression molding of the fiberglass. It's called a CWB. There are only a few cores, foam, aluminum honeycomb, balsa, there are also some that have fiberglass rods or pre-impregnated carbon sheeting for stiffness. CAPT is CWB's process of dishing out area to reduce swing weight, they remove material while keeping enough for strength. Most all wakeboards use compression molding. Basically the process involves hand laying resin soaked fiberglass matting on the core and then applying pressure in a mold so that it conforms to the contours of the board. If you have any other questions let me know.

i have a CWB Freedom and how good are their cores compared to others?

It's a basic foam core, the foam is very dense & basically a stock core that has been tried & trued over the years. I have the newer version of your board, the Absolute, it has the exact same foam core as yours. Foam cores are known to be stronger than others but supposedly don't pop as much, this is because they don't have the quick recoil of a carbon rod or whatever. Just wondering, what's the core obsession about?

no obbsession just wondering

A good core has a high shear factor/closed cell yet porous for good bonding. The best cores in my opinion are CNC machined not poured. The further the glass is from the top sheet to the bottom the stiffness goes up exponentially same with groves or channels in the deck. Carbon rods wear down the foam core when it is flexed over and over, wearing away and eventually doing nothing.
