http://www.stootsi.com/

Ordered 4 will make awesome christmas gifts!
It has to be a scam normally those retail for $3-400. How can they be selling them at $20.00. Now they have your CC number?
Probably not a scam. They were selling for $75 last year when I bought mine. They are pretty awesome. Some friends got theirs for $50. They are supposedly moving to more of a color display etc, so they are probably trying to move those out. Good buy if it is all legite....
Will one of them be in my stocking newty?

(Message edited by tyler97217 on November 30, 2007)

I'm sure he's ok as this looks legit as this is the 1st gen model. The new model, the Harman Kardon drive+ play2 goes for $200+ depending on where you buy. You can get this model all over eBay for $20 and up as well. Looks like HK dumped all their overstock.
hell yeah I just ordered 3. 1 for the boat, 1 for the truck, and hell 1 extra. And no they don't have my CC# because I used PayPal.
Yup, just grabbed one via PayPal as well! Thanks Ryan.
I just ordered one for the wife
doh.... forgot about paypal good idea
I went with paypal as well
got one as well.

Does anyone know if you can hook this up directly to most factory systems (2000 expedition)
Thanks for the post! Two on paypal.
Trapper, yes, you can, with a few wire taps you will be good to go. I snagged one earlier this morning for my father Christmas. I will be installing it in his factory BMW stereo. I went online to harmon kardon and downloaded their wiring diagram, shouldnt take more than 30 mins to install and maybe an hour to make it cosmetically perfect
I got one!
Looks like they are more like 45+ on Ebay
thanks for the link, snagged 2 of them. they are off the frontpage but still listed.

I've already got the boat wired, this will mean I can hide the ipod and keep it dry - good stuff!

Merry Christmas to me!

Thanks. Just noticed it has the FM transmitter, so I think I'll pass. I knew there had to be a catch!
Dave, i believe all units, even the new ones have an FM transmitter. Theres several options to hookin one of these bad boys up. You can use the fm transmitter, rca's, aux input or an FM antenna input which im getting off of ebay for like 20 bucks. So, for 45 bucks total, there isnt much of a catch
Eder or anyone else...I'm going to use this in a 2003 Tahoe with Bose system. What would be the best way to hook up? Aux input? Where would I get a connection for it?
Well, everybody's doing it, so I guess I'd better jump on board! I just ordered two!
They all have the option of aux input or fm transmitter. Got my shipping notifier too!
I'm wishing I would have ordered a few more!

Merry christmas everyone!
Thanks Ryan,
I just ordered two.
Awesome...got one on the way!

Taft Leissner and anyone else curious on how to install this device. its very simple for those who are even vaguely good at electronics. I consider myself knowledgeable to certain extents and this will be about a 30 min install on my dad's vehicle. i am personally going to purchase a wired FM adapter and thats how i will install it in my dad's car. Tap into a ground, a power wire and simply hook the 'brain' up to the car antenna and hook up the "brain's" antenna to the car's stereo, stock or not. Check out this link http://arstechnica.com/reviews/hardware/driveplay.ars/2

lots of info there and you can click on the "manual" button and download it. simple as it can be! hope it helps gentlemen!
i got 2 of them i dont even really have a need but hell why not........
Ryan,
Ordered 2 myself thanks for the great find.
it's back up, but selling at $14.99/ea this time.

Sold Out

I just got mine and installed already in the boat. THe only thing left is the wired FM modulator that I am waiting to receive from a seller on ebay. Thanks.
got mine in and love it!
Here they are for $34.99 and try price grabber too
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000BT97UO/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3G8W2H0Q7 PLRV&v=glance

BTW, I noticed someone passing because of the FM Modulator, they will plug up with RCA cables or mini plug. I plugged into wifes TL last night and it sounded AWESOME on the direct aux wire in.
I am putting one in my truck ...does not have aux in so I will add a FM Modulator, although it has one built in, you'll get a better signal with a wired fm mod.
BW
Bought one of these, installed it into my wifes VW, and she says it is skipping almost like a scratched CD, anyone have any ideas? Instal whet fine though.
Do you think I can wire it into my Cd changer control on my 2000 expedition. I don't want to lose the use of it but I was thinking maybe I could put in a switch or something
So, I got mine all wired up this morning and tried to fire it up. It starts up momentarily and then shuts down. I contacted Harman Kardon and they said that the unit needs 14 volts to run. He said the engine needs to be running- not a problem with a car install but mine is installed in my boat. Apparantly it won't work unless the engine is running. I mostly listen to music while the boat is NOT running, so that really stinks. I guess I am glad it was only $20, because I don't feel so bad about it but I am still irritated.
Mine works fine when the engine is off, so I'm not sure what he's talking about. Maybe because I have 2 batteries? But why wouldn't 14V be available w/ a single battery?
Steve,
Just curious.. How well charged is the boat battery now? I just got mine in over the weekend and plugged up to cig lighter in my truck and ran it (engine off) and it ran just fine.. If your boat has been sitting a bit and battery has dropped a little, that could affect.. may actually work when you been out running the boat and charging.. I don't understand HK saying it requires 14v... I know that my voltmeter shows 14 when running...but, arent' all those type of auto/boat accessories call 12V accessories?.. Maybe it will remain constant in summer when the boat has been running more and battery is charged better..
Dan I had the same problem when I installed this in my wife's car but after I started the car it worked fine I guess that battery had ran down a little during the install but now it works just fine with the car on or off
The battery is actually pretty low in my boat right now. I recently installed a complete stereo system in it and have been messing with it and playing the radio a fair amount without having run up the engine to top off the battery. I am hoping the 14 volt is not actually a requirement and that it will run once the battery is topped off.
I think you'll be fine after the batteries get charged up a little

IF anyone wants a wired FM adaptor for their Harman Kardon Drive + Play, I have one available. It takes the signal from the drive + play unit and sends it directly to the head unit via a cord that connects as a bypass between the antenna and antenna plug on the head unit. Its made by Harman Kardon especially for this unit. I don't need mine. Its brand new and never used. I paid $20 for mine and will let it go for less than that if someone offers. sbaugz@msn.com

i'll take it! sent you an email.
Damn Joe, you're quick! I'll take it if Joe falls off the face of the earth or something like that!
Where can I order one of these? Does it eliminate or reduce the amount of static?
Taft, i have one if you want to buy it as well. Brand new, and yes, it gets rid of the static completely
Holy cow, Sold to Joe Umali within 5 minutes of posting here. Thanks.

For the rest of you that need one, check out ebay. I got mine there for $20.

I decided not to use mine and am going with RCA jacks from my Drive + Play directly into my head unit for even better sound quality.

(Message edited by sbaugz on January 06, 2008)

(Message edited by sbaugz on January 06, 2008)
