Kind of quiet on here this morning without Stoked posting every 5 minutes. His computer must have crashed or something.

ive been on my other message board with all my surf bros....

everybody is all happy over there because we might get a small bump this weekend..its been flat in texas for almost 2 months...

we're all surf starved....

its always flat in the summers, even california go pretty flat in the summer...

byrd 08-24-2006 11:21 AM

Be glad you dont live in Florida, we only get surf in a few inlets and when a hurricane comes to town.

stoked409 08-24-2006 11:49 AM

yeah ive surfed all over florida...

gulf coast of florida is flatter than texas...but when you guys get a hurricane its a lot bigger than texas because its deeper on that end.

east coast on the central part...gets great waves.. the sebastian inlet, melbourne beach, coco, etc,,,

We used to get PO'd when it went flat for more then 2-3 days in Santa Cruz, even in the summer! (and "flat" usually meant anything under chest high & breaking out the longboard)

Local wind swell north of town was always available at this time of year if you didn't mind the 30 minute drive.

A small bump? Flat for 2 months??? Holy Shizzz!!

Stoked-I must say you have some pretty sweet wave pics on your myspace page. Honestly, I had no idea you could get breaks that good in Texas. I'm assuming that's where most of them are from except the GIGANTIC wave that is like a curved wall. That thing is gnarly looking.

stoked409 08-25-2006 5:06 PM

yeah my pics on myspace that are "brown" are texas... cant miss our beautiful water.

that crazy wave your talking about is "teahpoo" in tahiti, it will splatter your brains all over the reef. its the thickest wave in the world. it comes from really deep water and then hits a very shallow reef and actually breaks on itself. the wave has no back, its weird. they say that pipe claims more injuries than any other wave in the world. honesly, i dont see how.

yeah i used to live in CA for 4 years. tustin CA..about 20 minutes from huntington beach. loved it..

here is a video of pipe vs teahpoo! a lot of pipe segments and then a segment of teahpoo and you tell me which looks worse. trust me, youll know teahpoo when you see it...just look for the "THICKNESS OF THE LIP!"

http://surfline.com/video/vids/2006/aug/vids/ncl_300_otfhealy.wmv

ttrigo 08-25-2006 5:08 PM

I think Pipe still has more people riding it annually than Teahpoo. that is probably why they have more injuries.

stoked409 08-25-2006 5:14 PM

that's exactly what i think...a lot people are scared to death of teahpoo on a 6' day.

nuckledragger 08-25-2006 10:28 PM

Teahupoo is the heaviest wave in the world, hands down. I am sure you saw when Raimana barely missed being hit in the head by the Red Bull Jet Ski. That was sick.
