will this be a decent lens for shots, boarding and general? <BR> <BR>i found a camera that i want...but i am about to go way over budget with that camera...the camera comes with this lens... will this lens do OK for now.. tell i can get another one? in the distant future?

I assume you're talking about the 28-135 IS? It should be fine for your first lens, IQ is reasonably good, AF is OK and it's fast enough and long enough for shooting from the boat on a 1.6X body. You may find it a bit short for chase boat shooting but overall a good starting point.
