Where is everyone mounting their satellite radio antennas and which antenna are you using? I have the Sirius kit for Sony which comes with a little magnetic antenna, but since I have an Illusion tower, it's useless. I saw this marine specific antenna:

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-sMJr7RMvvOJ/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=225350&I=209SIRMAR

Has anyone used it or others?

I have mine mounted in front of the driver windshield by the cupholder

looks ok

but I always get a signal

Mine sits right in front of the dashboard, but under the windsheild. I have the wire hidden under the dash. I always get a signal unless someone throws a shirt or hat up there.

(Message edited by kdr on July 16, 2007)

I have the unit mounted by the cupholder in front of the driver windshield as well. I have the wire coming out of the cupholder hole, and the antenna is secured with double sided tape.

mine is just behind the bow light (wire goes in same hole as bow light). nobody ever even notices it there.

I slide a small flat magent in one of the sleeves of the bimini and stick the antenna on top of the bimini.

I just installed this:

http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/CachedPage&c=ProductAsset&cid=112880346385 1

on my X-45, port side in front of the window. I went all the way and drilled a hole to mount.

Mine was under the dash worked fine

Mine cut out alot under the window. In front of the bow nav light works killer.

I have mine on the dash, under the ws. It's attached with velcro. No problems.

is the signal good under the windshield??

I have the same thing as Paul mounted with 3M double sided foam tape pads. No problem with bimini and shirts. I had my last boat mounted on the tower and threw it on the dash on my new boat for a temporary hook up and ended up deciding to leave it there.

I have mine mounted under the windshield, it cuts out for a second or two anytime I turn to pick up a downed rider...

I got tired of the signal cutting out. Everything from a sweatshirt, to towels when parked, to the canyon mountains when the boat was leaning would make it cut out. I moved it to the top tower and its worked flawless since.

Between the bimini, the glass, a sweatshirt, the tower bars, towell...etc....Your asking alot mounting under the window IMO. But one signal cut per day is too many for me.
Maybe i am just asking too much, but i am much happier after spending the time to run it up the tower.
BTW...mine is the mag mount but stuck to the flat part of the aluminum 210 tower with a 1" velcro dot.

(Message edited by troyl on August 01, 2007)
