Does anyone know of any Slalom courses on Table Rock Lake? The course on Kings River is no longer there, and i cant find another one close to Big Bay. Anyone know of any? And don't worry, I've been skiing Table Rock for 15 years, I'll respect anyone's course!

I'm not sure where Big Bay is, but if you are near the Shell Knob are there is one on the other side of Baxter past Aunt's Creek (probably the closest if Kings isn't in the water)... Find the big island and the course is on the backside of it... The owner of the course lives in the gigantic house overlooking the course. Please replace any buoys you knock off...

Big Bay is over by Campbell point. Aunts Creek is a good little drive, up past the swings. I wish there was one farther west of there, but i'll take what i can get.

Thanks for your help!

Jason, There is one in Little Cow. About half way between Indian Pointe and Kimberling City on the south side.

kstateskier 07-19-2006 6:09 PM

Little Cow is a lot farther than Aunts Creek. That sucks that the Kings River course is gone, that thing was money. We always stay at Hickory Hollow and it was just a short shot up the Kings. Very dissapointing to say the least.

2 miles from indian point, in the cove just to the right of the mile marker 6 sign.

Unfortunately the slalom courses on Table Rock and many other Mo Lakes are struggling to survive. Earlier this season a large group of Mo skiers signed a petition and wrote letters just to get our permit re-approved for the next few years... Also earlier this year we battled a few complaints, which turned out to a homeowner in Little Cow Cove who thought the "skiers" were partying too much in there. This is kind of funny because hardcore skiers aren't even in little cow cove unless its 7am or 7pm trying to get thier sets in.

The really sad news is that it appears that there is land being cleared for several new houses in Little Cow and we are hearing reports that 2, 25 slip docks are going into the cove within the next year. If and when this happens none of us are quite sure what effect that will have on the slalom course, or the availability to ski on it. Increased boat traffic is certainly going to result. And the homeowners in that cove can petition to have the course removed... If that happens the Corp may/may not approve its permit for another location. Either way a message to all who use little cow or any other course on table rock is this... BE COURTEOUS! Take care of the area, and hopefully we will continue to enjoy the courses on Table rock... Once they are all gone we are all going to have to become good trick skiers instead...

Its possible that Kings River course was damaged earlier this summer and hasn't been replaced yet but Williams Brothers Ski n Sports. They are the owners of that course and, in the past a few of thier employees have cared for its maintenance and upkeep. I would imagine it will return, since it too has a permit.

Beach, I guess we could try putting that course back in deep in the Kings River, should have it in by 2020!

kstateskier 07-26-2006 1:42 PM

Thanks for the info everyone.... I am going down to Shell Knob this weekend and will try to find one of these. A couple of weeks ago i was down near Branson, and found a course deep in the Brush Creek arm down by Long Creek. Does anyone know who ownes this course? I was skiing it and someone tied up to one of the bouys and pulled it way out of wack. He claimed he was one of the owners, but i didn't get that feeling by our conversation. Just wondering....

kstateskier 08-16-2006 1:28 PM

The closest course to Shell Knob is 3 bends south of the Kings River Marina on the Kings River Arm. It is probably one of the easiest courses to find on the lake, as it's right on the main channel of the Kings River Arm, but it is far enough south that there is not much traffic. Saturdya would be the busiest time. I don't know who owns the Long Creek course, I didn't even know there was one. I doubt an owner would tie to an arm though!!

I was there a couple of weeks ago. If you go on a saturday, plan on spending at least a half an hour explaining to jet skiers that the course is for skiing, not jet skiing. It took a while, but I finally won, by telling him to explain to me what the bouys in the center where for. He didn't know, and I explained that they are to guide the boat. I then smacked him on the back of the head and told him to beat it.

kstateskier 08-23-2006 2:34 PM

It can be interesting down there. We like to tell the jet skiers that they are welcome to use it, but that each ball costs about 10 bucks and they can gladly pay for any damage they do on the spot.

There are all kind of crazies down there. We were using the cow creek course on Saturday when we were down there and a runabout ran by pulling a skier while my brother was making a pass. As we sat my brother to cut line the runabout made it's way through the course then proceeded to pass us at about 50 feet. The skier pulled out and skied within about 5 feet of my brother and attempted to hose him down only to take a good wipeout. My dad proceeded to tell him that it was pretty impressive the run he just pulled off, he said he thought it was as well. We pulled my brother up only to show the guy that a good skier could soak the guy pretty good from 15+ feet away! I think they got the idea.

(Message edited by kstateskier on August 23, 2006)

I'm bumping this thread for any current information on slalom courses near Shell Knob

kstateskier 03-02-2008 6:44 PM

As of last summer there was still a course on the Kings River. That is the closest that I know of to Shell Knob.

Thanks for the update Nick.
