When I watch the pros and instructional videos it always seems that these guys have the board pointed straight into the wake when they start standing tall. When I try it, I cannot seem to stand copmpletely tall unless I am willing to give up line load. Subsequently I've wasted alot of time this year with inconsistent W2W pop and jumps. The majority of the time I lose the load and have these really weak W2W jumps.

My question is if I reduce the angle of my cut such that when I hit the wake I will be at say 45 degrees instead of 90 (Straight into it), will I be better off? I did this by accident last night and was surprised that I was able to stand tall, get a nice pop, and floaty jump all at the expense of a powerful jump. I'm just curious, because I feel like there has been very little progress in this area for a few months (I am a beginner).

How do you guys think about this when you set up a jump?

Update:

I worked it out yesterday and sure enough, it was a good idea. With a little tweaking on the theory I was getting launched the way I had hoped.

I was mainly running angles between 45 and 90 degrees which really made it easier for me to time the standing tall part of the trick.

Thanks for all your help and support . . .
