where to weight for for soft and hard wakes.

As a general rule for moving weight front/back: <BR> <BR>More weight in the front= more firm, rampy, and clean <BR> <BR>More weight in the back= more vert, wash and softness

i like an almost equally weighted boat. not so soft it wont let you get much pop and not so hard its like hitting a curb.

I believe hard or soft wakes are more a characteristic of the design of the hull, and speed. Faster speed seems to harden the wake. Most hulls are not going to afford the user the option to achieve hard and soft wakes, and have the wake "clean" at the desired speed. Any given hull needs a certain amount of ballast, placed correctly, for the best shape at the desired speed.

Once you have a wake cleaned up, more speed=harder wake but more speed also means smaller wakes with the same ballast. If you have a mush pile it will not be hard at any speed though. The biggest hardest wakes are with a slammed boat going pretty fast 24-28MPH.
