Idiots in Washington want to punish the evil refineries which of course will drive up gas prices and decrease your boats value.

Please contact your representatives and tell them to vote no on The American Clean Energy and Security
Act of 2009 (H.R. 2454)

The details of the bill and a link to contact your rep are provided below:

The United States House of Representatives is expected to vote on
comprehensive climate change legislation this Friday or Saturday. The
bill, titled The American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 (H.R.
2454), includes multiple provisions that specifically target our
industry and would make it very challenging for U.S. refiners to
remain competitive in a global marketplace.

The bill not only regulates the carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from
our facilities, but we must also pay for emission credits to cover the
CO₂ emissions made by vehicles that burn our fuel. Not surprisingly,
as the largest domestic refiner, Valero’s reportable CO₂ emissions
make up approximately 6.6% of the U.S. total, when you count product
emissions.

Whether you are concerned about climate change or not, enactment of
H.R. 2454 is bad for domestic refining, bad for the economy, and bad
for consumers. While we believe the true legislative battle on climate
change will occur this fall in the U.S. Senate, it is vital that we
let our Representatives in the House know how damaging this
legislation is to their constituents.

To help voice your concern on this harmful legislation, I ask that you
contact your Representative today and urge them to vote NO on The
American Clean Energy and Security Act (H.R. 2454). Please visit the
Voices for Energy<http://www.valero.com/ourbusiness/voicesforenergy/pages/default.aspx>
page to view directions for calling your Representative’s office. All
of the information you need to do so is available, and it is an easy,
effective way to voice your concern.

Total crap. I remember my dad saying once the enviromentalist move in and take over, we're in trouble. Looks like it's coming to fruition.

The funny thing is no one can even prove increased atmospheric CO2 is even harmful. Hell, we exhale it every breath.. Maybe they will tax breathing soon..

Socialism and governmental grabs for more power thrive off a "crisis" situation (global warming) because they trick people into thinking something has to be done NOW or we surely shall all perish. This prompts the ordinary joe into letting the federal government have far more power than the constitution ever intended.

What kind of carbon tax will they slap on this bad boy?

Volcanic polution far outweighs the human effort.

Well said Davis. This is just the tip of the iceberg with the Obama admin. Let's just hope this socialist imperialist isn't around for another term. The repubs better get their shiat together for 2012!!!! If the economy keeps tanking and people keep losing jobs the repubs will be back in control by 2012, IMO.

Joe, to answer your question they need about 17,000 volcanic eruptions to equal human greenhouse gas output. The carbon tax would only be about 1/150 of what it would be for people.
http://volcanoes.usgs.gov/hazards/gas/index.php
A lot of greenhouse gases come from a volcano, and there 1,500 active volcanoes in the world. Balance that, however, against 6,800,000,000 people and that 1,500 seems a little light.

Davis, the science behind the effect of CO2 on global warming is easy to prove and clearly done. What is hard to prove is how much of and affect people have in relation to the rest of the world overall. What they do have is a strong correlation between human activity rapidly rising and global temperatures rapidly rising. That empirical analysis means we might just be messing things up some.

I'm going to have to get out in my boat to cool down.

wake_upppp 06-25-2009 10:44 AM

I want to see a tax on cow farts too...

dreevs 06-25-2009 10:48 AM

Drive your car into your garage tonight, close the garage door, leave the car running, and spend the night in the front seat of the car.

Post back in the morning whether or not your environment was affected.

rallyart 06-25-2009 10:49 AM

I've often wondered if that was part of what they call human effects. It should be.
But if they tax cow farts they're going to have to tax people's too and that's going to hit beer and burrito sales hard.

"Davis, the science behind the effect of CO2 on global warming is easy to prove and clearly done."

That Kool-aid comes in two flavors. I prefer the flavor that lets me happily run my boat Either way it takes more religion than solid science is capable of.

Here is one link supporting my flavor:
http://doctorbulldog.wordpress.com/2008/12/10/exposing-the-global-warming-myth-co2-levels/}

Ted,

That is carbon monoxide (not dioxide) that does the garage suicide trick.

spoon5285 06-25-2009 12:12 PM

If they could only put a nuclear reactor in the old SAN hull, everybody would be happy!!

You could run on a pint of uranium for a lifetime

k_b_stephens 06-25-2009 12:57 PM

LOL @ Ted <facepalm>

lakelife 06-25-2009 1:14 PM

Phillip, sweet job with MS Paint. I definitely had to save that picture... haha

murphy_smith 06-25-2009 1:18 PM

Davis your original post is incorrect. You need to replace the word idiots with democrats...

Democrat is synonomous with tax the heck out of you.

(Message edited by Murphy_Smith on June 25, 2009)

goboating 06-25-2009 1:54 PM

Good one Dreeves!

Any bill that these IDIOTS (Democrats) in D.C. pass now means more out of our pocket. Wait another 2 years and see what our deficit will be.

Ted, what are the levels on Weir?

ghostrider_2 06-26-2009 1:36 PM

Sparky, be careluf they are actually debating that up here. They want to charge each farmer per cow.

innov8 06-26-2009 1:49 PM

Hahahah, what are they going to hire new Government employees that have a fart meter that stand out in the pasture all day, whoops that was a big one double tax for that wet one!!

Obama did say he was going to create new Government jobs.

wake_upppp 06-26-2009 2:57 PM

Tax, tax, tax, spend, spend, spend. This guy looks more like a radical every day...

rocketman 06-26-2009 7:42 PM

Ronald Reagan said, "Republicans believe every day is the Fourth of July, but the Democrats believe every day is April 15."

Unfortunately this bill passed the House. Boating is going to get very expensive if it passes the near filibuster Senate.

mammoth 06-27-2009 6:20 AM

They want to charge each farmer per cow.

Farmers grow plants, ranchers and dairymen grow cows.
