I searched the archives but would appreciate some current input. Just trashed our SL viper, need another zero stretch that will resist tangle. Products? where to shop?

Accurate A-LINE! it has the same coating on it like the coating on your turck tail gate cables its from the same company! It is a little bit heavyer than the jaket series! It is 80 feet with 3 or 4 or 5 5 foot sections!
Accurate's are great ropes. I've got mine wrapped up in the prop like half a dozen times and it's still as good as new. Pretty much any spectra rope is gonna be tangle-proof, so you don't really have to worry about that.

Mike, you didn't like your Viper, or are you just lookin? Seems like everyone like the Jackets. I like my Viper, but don't really know any better.

Proline's cable plus is so much better than the A-line. It's the same concept but cleaner and no heat shrinks. I just got one.

derek, I did like the viper, but it now has a splice knot in the middle of it. I'de be curious to know the best source for replacement. I saw the whole combo on Bart's for $89, handle and line together, maybe that's the best deal??

Question: Why do people say mainline? Are there secondary lines in wakeboarding? Why is it not just "a rope?" Who came up with this "mainline" business? ...just wondering.

blind5 03-06-2005 6:23 PM

A-line, it rolls up so nice and fells cool in when wet.

dezy 03-06-2005 7:41 PM

Salmon, I refer to the 55 ft to 65 ft line that is the longer of the ropes that are connected together to adjust line length as the "mainline". Typically there will be a five footer and a ten footer that gets attached to the "mainline" to accomodate different riding styles and different wakes.

Accurate Jacket for me

brhanley 03-22-2005 10:25 AM

I'm in the same situation as Mike: I need a new rope/handle. Gathered that handle is personal preference. Need help with ropes. Thinking of getting an A-line b/c I'd like the option of riding at 85 feet and I've heard good things about it.

Anyone else with experience with the proline cable plus v. the A-line?
What's the difference between the Accurate Jacket and A-Line?
How do you get the A-line with the shorter (3 foot sections)?
Where should I look to purchase ropes/handles for cheap? Anyone have a combo deal?

pappasurf 03-22-2005 11:56 AM

I recently bought the jacket series, and love it. Several of my friends have it as well. As was said earlier they have been run over by props on more than one occasion and are no worse for the wear.

Mark if you got you line warpped in the prop 6 times or more theirs a problem with someones driving or attention span on the boat for sure

its only hapopoened to me once on my boat many years ago and ive see it happen only one other time when im on the boat..we make sure we pull in the rope after each person is done so we dont drift or run over the rope

I have the Viper line and its abitch to untange a knot from it and if you do get it out you mess up the coating and believe me it weakens the rope in that spot,i had one snap mid frontroll and send the handle into my cheek and me crashig to the ground..also i dont like the 10ft section that come with it ,the 5s are better it becomes a problem when you have rider who need a 60ft or one then who wants to ride 75ft then another at 70 it doesnt work like that woithout removbing one or the other..i cut mine in half to make two 5s and it has worked out fine ..its a decent rope but i like accurates better..

Salmon,
Yeah, but it sounds way cooler.
Plus, who in their right minds would pay a hundred bucks for rope?

mango 03-30-2005 6:04 PM

boarditup 03-30-2005 7:23 PM
