Norcal detail shop and boating advice

In the process of moving to elk grove and just towed the Supra across 4 states thru snow and rain. :( Could someoe recommend a good detail shop in that area? Would like to have the int done and also have the hull buffed and waxed.

I am also going to need some advice on the best places to boat. Thanks for the help

I agree give Acme a call .

And hit up Garcia bend in south Sac. It is the river but pretty snag free and nice and wide in that area.

Or make friends with some Delta guy's it is only a 30 minute drive down I-5 from Elk Grove.

cale22 12-01-2010 11:05 PM

Thanks guys I will give him a call. Other than Shasta, what are some nice lakes around here or does everyone go to the delta?

You can try Folsom, but it tends to get busy. Other than that, it's the Delta, Sac River, or a 2+ hour drive to one of the lakes in the Sierra foothills (New Melones, Don Pedro, McClure, etc). Berryessa is in the opposite direction, but IMO tends to get choppy. Good luck...

It has been a long time since I lived in Sac, but I used to like going to Camp Far West, Folsom or drop in on the Sac River after work.

hillbilly 12-02-2010 6:20 PM

Camp Far west is outside Lincoln so it would be about an hour I think ? I've never been but I hear it is good for early season riding because it heats up rather quickly.

Berryessa does get retarded pretty quick in the summer.

Don Pedro is nice and about 1 1/2 hours south of you.

But don't fear the river, It is close and good water most of the time. Colder temps but well worth it.

Watch the find a third section and you can meet up with ppl that know just about every good spot around.

Welcome to EG

Bullards Bar is another great lake, and I always hear good things about Oroville, though I've never been there.

cale22 12-02-2010 8:53 PM

What time of year does the water in the foothills start to warm? I will definitely check the find a third forum being new to town I would love to have someone show me around the river and delta.

h2ohangtime 12-03-2010 8:58 AM

Usually around mid-May it gets bearable enough to not have a wetsuit.

hillbilly 12-04-2010 11:53 AM

And the detail guy's Acme used is now in the building right next to them.

NU LOOK is there name.

And Bullards is well worth the trip ! Good call Lou, But now ppl will flame on us for "letting" out the secret spot ! LOL

Cale - Welcome to WakeWorld and Elk Grove. Good talking with you on the phone the other day. Our detailer works out of one of our bays. His name is Danny and you can call him at 916-997-7717. We have 15000sq ft so keeping your boat inside during the detail is not a big deal.

I've been in Elk Grove for over 20 years and can give you a few good places to ride. Come boating time give me a call or send me a message and we can get together. If you have any other boating/automotive/EG related questions let me know.

Just picked the boat up from nu look. Danny did a great job and it was done when he said it would be. I would highly recommend them. Thanks again for the help
