If I'm pulling a white boat with a diesel truck, do I need to worry about exhaust stains/marks showing up on the hull from driving around?

probably...but it's a quick wipe down...diesel particulates tend to be more solid then gas particulates and will wipe off easy.

In a word yes, however your driving style greatly affects the amount of soot you put out. All diesel trucks today are turbos. They smoke when more fuel than air is getting into the combustion chamber. Simply allowing the boost to come up, say to 6 lbs, before adding more throttle will allow the turbo to stay ahead of the injectors on the majority of trucks.

I always try to keep the smoke to a min when towing my boat so I don't have that black film to wipe down.

I towed all last year with a diesel and an all white boat. 200 miles round trip to the lake. Never noticed any exhaust stains on the boat.

(Message edited by larrys on July 27, 2006)

My motor home is diesel I have to tow with the cover on or else my entire interior or the boat has small black particles on it. I haven't found a way around it yet.

We never noticed any when pulling ours and it is white also.

We pull with diesel also and it's a 700 mile round trip to one lake we go to and their is no problem. Although a 6 hour trip to the lake does get old qiuck.

Good luck

I just towed an all white boat from WA to Shasta (round trip about 1000 miles) I had no exhaust residue whatsoever.
