Trick Advice

Need some advice on expanding to a few new tricks, been surfing for a while now and can go w/o the rope, 360 rope pass etc. my question is how do I do tricks w/o the rope like 360, and jumps off the wake? How fast are yall running and what size board for a guy that’s around 190. also Do I need to have any weight in the front of the boat or just load down the middle and which ever back side we are riding?

Weight in the front extends the pocket of your wake.

What kind on boat do you have? That will affect where you weight a little. But use speed to lengthen the pocket, don't overweight the front.

I ride a 4.8 shredstixx elevation, weight 140, and ride around 11.2-11.7 with 250lbs up front, 200+ people on the side, and 1100 rear locker.

flyboywakesurf.com. james has some good explanations of tricks in there. go the the right side of the page, under catagories. go through all the drop downs. some are very detailed.

as far as wake goes. i believe that is boat dependant. mine is a 04 nautique 210, the weight needs to be distributed about 60/40 back to front at around 10.5.

i weight 185 and ride a 4'2'' LF custom. i currently have a IS flyboy (4'6'') on order as i was advised that the longer board just help me get air... its faster.

we currently have a 03 super air nautique, hopefully picking up a 05 malibu wake setter next week. I have about 300lbs of lead in PVC tubes that i can move around the boat depending if the rider is goofy or regular. going to invest in some more sacs, it looks like a lot of the videos from flyboywakesurf.com they are going pretty fast. also does anyone ride in a big cirlce ever? we do this sometimes to get the wake better.

are you riding a surf or skim style board?

you should drive straight. I believe James is only going 10.5mph in those videos.

you need a lot more weight. i can tell you how to weight a nautique but if you are getting rid of it........

the fastest i have ever heard anybody riding is 12. the videos just make it appear fast... prolly do to the camera being so close to the water.

I run about 1200 in the nose of my VTX and it has lengthened my pocket while allowing me to slow down for the less experienced riders, so they can get their feel for speeding up and slowing the board. I can run at around 9.4mph for the less exp, while I run at around 11 for myself and have a huge pocket. The other big benefit is that I don't have the bow rise to contend with while driving

These aren't the greatest pics, but they ar of last night. VTX 1200 bow, 500 center, 950 surf side locker, 4 adults 2 small kids, wedge all the way down. Running about 9.4mph, the people riding were just getting dropping the rope, pocket goes back about 15-20 feet clean with a nice curl
