Lingering Water Spots
I normally wipe down the boat after every use, but sometimes last year we let the boat air dry. Now there are a couple of small places on the color parts of the hull with lingering water sports that aren't coming off with just soap, a brush, and water.
Any thoughts on the best things to use to get them off before I wax the boat? We normally use 50-50 vinegar and water or Eagle 1 Wipe and Shine to get spots off, but those aren't working on these. Thanks. |
toilet bowl cleaner.
alot of bathroom cleaners work well. CLR, for expamle does good. |
Try staight vinegar...put some on a sponge and see if you can rub them out.
CLR in the green bottle will also work. Wear gloves and make sure that you wash it completely from the boat and trailer. A lot of Malibu guys use the combo of Lysol Toilet bowl cleaner and Hydrogen Peroxide 50/50. Put it on with a spray bottle, give it a scrub and wash it off. It work really well. |
Kaboom works pretty well, make sure and rinse afterwards, then reapply wax

Thanks guys. I have some CLR at the house so I'll try that and go from there. Thanks for the tips.

My last boat had some under the rubrail area from the previous owner that never wanted to come off. I finally went at them with straight vinegar and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. it worked wonders. They were completely gone. Just soak the Magic Eraser in vinegar rather than water essentially.
And before anyone asks, no, it didn't scratch the gel coat at all..... Made sure of that under fourescent lights. |
How bout using a polish, or color restorer with a buffer? then re-apply wax
