9x7 garage door. Will most boats fit?
 

My garage door is 9 wide by 7 high and my Sea Ray 180 with tower and such barely fits. You guys with 20 foot plus inboards does your boat fit in a traditional garage door?

Brand of tower make the difference, and a bit on how it sits on the trailer. Lots of boats fit that height by mine with a Chubby Tower is tight on an 8' door. One advantage on an inboard is that it usually sits lower on the trailer than a bowrider.

I have a 2013 Malibu VLX with 14" wheels, my garage height is 7'5" x 12 feet wide, I clear the header by 1/2".... and that's with taking off all the board racks and tow ball on tower. 7' will be very difficult to fit any wakeboat in, it might be do-able but could require a drop hitch, deflating tire pressure, etc.... whatever you end up buying make sure and see if you can fit in the garage first before you hand over a check to someone.

Or you can replace that header with a shorter engineered header. Not cheap but, doable if you have the ceiling height in your garage to allow.

My Sanger v215 fits no problem, and I know the folded height of the 237 is the same. Was looking at specs for axis boats and folded the boat fits a 6'10" garage door so you would be fine.

I believe some tower options on the supremes keep them under 7' as well

Gonna be real tight for most boats. You have the width, but will still be a little tight, so make sure you are a good backer. The height will only allow for certain boats and they will still always be very close. Do your homework and test fit the boat before buying it, if that is a must for you.

Sangers are known for ultra low freeboard...so they probably have the lowest height of any wake boat.

I thought I read that guys would lower the trailer or let air out(of the tires) of even a Malibu VTX late 2000 model to get into a 7 foot door.

My 2003 mastercraft x2 on a single axle barely fits in my 7' garage. I have to unhook it from the truck then lower the jack and push it in. It clears by about 1/2".

the MB's are suposed to fit. I have 83" to work with and plan on oredering a 2014 model. hope it fits, lol

My Enzo 216 fits with about 1/2 inch to spare.

If it has a torsion axle trailer you can usually lower them 1/2-1". Its a simple project and only takes an hour, I did it on my 2011.

Early when I used to stay in my old house at that time my garage was too short but then I was also frustrated with that so I rebuild the entire garage with new cabinets, flooring, new garage door earlier which was manual but now I have installed an automatic gate openers, then comes the important thing that is the height I made it 9x7!! :) :) Cooooool :)

My Wakesetter VLX does not. By the time you take the trailer with the guide posts I need almost 12'

gonna depend on boat trailer and tower. My 2002 X Star with the tower folded down and the tongue at the lowest point on my fulton jack and single axel tires it fits by an inch. Sorry none of us can help till you pick a few boats!!!

Like many of the guys before have said, it depends on the boat. An older Nautique will fit easily, whereas a G23 isn't going to be anywhere close. My dad has owned a garage door company for almost 20 years now and since the towers and wakeboats have become so popular on our lake in the last 5-10 years, he hears this question a lot. His recommendation is a minimum of 10' wide x 8' high just to be safe. One of his biggest repairs is people who garage their boat and then hang a fender while pulling it out. He's seen more torn out door jambs than just about anything, and these repairs always peak at the beginning of the season. I have a Tige RZ4 with 102" beam, and I wouldn't try to put an 8.5' wide boat into a 9' wide garage door; there's not nearly enough play for me to be comfortable.

I find that it helps to use a 8" drop receiver hitch to keep the bow down for more tower/windsheild clearance. Also lowering the tire pressure. My boat fits fine but I cannot close the door overnight because its too long. Lose/Lose.
