- - What size battery cable for 15ft run (http://www.wakeworld.com/forum/showthread.php?t=433059)

I am moving my battery from the port rear locker to the port storage up front. My question is the 15 foot run to the engine. The current cable is a 1/0 GA 105 degree SAE. Do I need to go to a 2/0, and if so where is the best place to buy a new cable.

2 ga is smaller than 1 ga.

He didnt say 2 ga. When he said 1/0 and 2/0, he's talking about 0 ga and 00 ga. Its is pronounce one-ought and two-ought. 2/0 IS larger than 1/0.

Rob, Increasing the length of the run should also include a corresponding increase increase in wire size. I'm pretty sure 2/0 should do the trick.

Does anyone have a battery up front and if so what size wire? That should be like a 20 ft run.

Just did a Malibu and it had 2/0 from the engine to the batt. Batt was in the front of boat.

for cable try
Partsexpress.com

I purchased cable and fittings from them, but it is local for me.

If you want to do it the RIGHT way. You should use marine grade tinned copper wire. Regular copper is prone to corrosion in a marine environment. Tinned copper wire is definitely more expensive.

I'm not saying you HAVE to, but it should be something you at least consider.

Dirty

When I moved my battery up front, I used 2/0 welding cable. Copper tinned and mass amounts of stands.
