jlembas 11-18-2003 6:54 AM

Great suggestions so far. Couldn't help myself on commenting. This is probably the best list of music I have seen on this board yet. <BR> <BR>David Jackson: You've managed to mention 2 out of 3 of my favorite hip hop artists! If you like J5 and Blackalicious then Styles of Beyond should be in your collection. It's more difficult to find but worth it when you do....both SOB discs are great. <BR> <BR>David Burns: I do appreciate the music off of the beaten path especially the Sex Pistols. <BR> <BR>Jerry Lembas <BR>Fluid Concepts <BR><a href="http://www.fluidconcepts.net" target="_blank">www.fluidconcepts.net</a>

Heading said "top 5 songs" not top 5 songs by original artists, I rate a lot of cover versions higher than the originals.

board4food1 11-18-2003 2:26 PM

I stand corrected toolfan.... <BR> <BR>by the way, just what "tool" are you a fan of? <BR> <BR>David... I wasn't aware that reel big fish did a cover. vern 11-18-2003 6:13 PM

Dylan, three days grace is a remake of Ugly Kid Joe's (i hate)everything about you isn't it? If i'm not mistaken they came out with the song in 1991 or 92.

board4food1 11-19-2003 1:26 PM

I'll have to check them out... I've heard of Switchfoot and Reliant K, but havn't had the chance to listen yet. Thanks!

aaronlee13 11-19-2003 1:28 PM

i'm gonna take lots of these songs listed and make the ultimate wakeboard cd! Lots of good songs!

jetpilotrider03 11-19-2003 1:32 PM

why is there so much mainstream ????

aaronlee13 11-19-2003 1:44 PM

cuz they are good songs!

jetpilotrider03 11-19-2003 1:50 PM

mainstream sucks man..if i want to listen to eminem, i turn on mtv..and you know how much mtv sucks

fng03 11-19-2003 2:20 PM

I have not listened to music while riding (and if I did have music playing, I'd probably not notice anyway, being too preoccupied with trying not to die). <BR> <BR>Were I to select the top five songs that I should be listening to, they would be: <BR> <BR>5. "Sea of Heartbreak" by Don Gibson <BR>4. "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot <BR>3. "Rattled" by the Travelling Wilburys <BR>2. "Wipeout" by the Safaris (?) <BR>1. "O Fortuna" Carl Orff <BR> <BR>See a trend? <BR> <BR>By the way, Nick, there are some genres, artists, and songs that I do not care for, but that does not mean that they suck, or that I have carte blanche to belittle others because their tastes are different than mine.

aaronlee13 11-19-2003 2:34 PM

amen Chris!

andrew_moreton 11-19-2003 3:32 PM

wazzy 11-20-2003 6:43 AM

aaron~ <BR> <BR>I'll save you the trouble of making a CD if you are into the same music I am. I had to make 2 discs though, one is local bands &amp; the other is national bands....I sent one of each to Miles Armstrong &amp; he LOVED them. <BR> <BR>

11-20-2003 12:49 PM

Sorry Tim, but I gotta say anything from Eminem or Linkin Park. Especially "Business, lose yourself, till I collapse, sing for the moment, or say my name" from eminem.

jetpilotrider03 11-20-2003 1:13 PM

im with TIM...you got the good rap down man..hip hop is so much better ( the underground) than the talentless mainstrem

fng03 11-20-2003 2:42 PM

Mainstrem?

socalwakepunk 11-20-2003 2:47 PM

Nick, you are just way too core.

jetpilotrider03 11-20-2003 2:49 PM

arent' you 32 chris? should you know about the good ol' classic rock and hip-hop like the souls of mischief? where were you in your 20's?

sdrider 11-20-2003 3:57 PM

Am I the only one that still rides to Prodigy? <BR> <BR>apparently.....................oh well, these never get old. <BR> <BR>1) Smack My Bitch Up <BR>2) Breathe

xxwakeskaterxx 11-20-2003 6:59 PM

50 cent- back down <BR>blink 182- feeling this <BR>outkast- hey ya <BR>tupac- dying to live <BR>lil john and the eastside boys- get low <BR>a.f.i- girls not grey <BR>

fng03 11-20-2003 6:59 PM

Actually, Nick, I'm 33 now, and I have actually never been into what the rest of my generation would consider worth listening to. <BR> <BR>My musical tastes tend to be whatever sounds good to me at the time, without any real restrictions based on genre (though I do not normally listen to hip-hop, I do have to respect the artists for the talent that they have). <BR> <BR>As far as my 20's, I'll just say that I did not use them to their full potential - which is probably why I'm just starting to wakeboard now.

gunz 11-20-2003 8:16 PM

Sensor-Whats goin on <BR>Slayer-Bloodline <BR>35R-Mine <BR>Scars of life-Pool of fears <BR>Shinedown-Fly away from the inside <BR>Kazzer-Petal to the Metal <BR>N2Deep-Back to the hotel <BR>Blackalicious-Fix Baby <BR>

toyotafreak 11-20-2003 8:47 PM

Nobody mentioned Pep Love, Swollen Members, Code Name: Scorpion or any of the other bas a$$ tunes from Free 4 All. <BR> <BR>Glad to see Jurassic 5 mentioned - these guys have such a good sound. Not as tight/thoughtful/positive as Pep Love, but damn good. <BR> <BR>A great recipe for the second-string CD - mix equal parts Pep Love Ascension, J5 Quality Control, J5 Power in Numbers and Code Name: Scorpion. Sprinkle a little Outkast, Ludacris, Tupac, Wu Tang Clan, Linkin Park, Obie Trice and Mace. <BR> <BR>Ensure most F4A tracks are on it, in a row for easy access. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by toyotafreak on November 20, 2003)

Its kinda suprising no one has said anything about Sublime or 311 both are exelent for wakeboarding.

gunz 11-23-2003 10:17 AM

Okay,Sublime and ummmmmm 311.

deepstructure 11-23-2003 12:13 PM

chris - "and if I did have music playing, I'd probably not notice anyway, being too preoccupied with trying not to die" <BR> <BR>lol. exactly. i never hear the music when i start riding. i hear it playing as i get up and then i don't hear it after that. <BR> <BR>danny - have you heard rbf's cover of duran duran's 'hungry like the wolf'? omg that's awesome. sean jackson turned me on to that one. <BR> <BR>canaday - i prefer the 'mmnamana' song. <BR> <BR> <BR>overall im surprised (but probably shouldnt be), at the predominance of hip-hop/rap/and alt/heavy rock. i guess that's what's mostly popular. but given the wide-ranging demographic of wakeboarding (and especially its skew towards the upper end), i would have expected more variety in style and genre. <BR>

dbjts 11-23-2003 12:40 PM

ALRIGHT THEN <BR>1,Bing Crosby White Christmas <BR>2,Mozart Second Symphony <BR>3,Osmands Crazy Horses <BR>4,Elvis Jailhouse Rock <BR>5,Zig Zig Sputnik Love Missile <BR>HOW WIDE-RANGING IS THAT THEN ?
