I can't believe how many peoples docks and gangways and boat lift's are getting worked from being high and dry. Come next spring a whole lot of people are gonna be pretty un happy because they have to spend a bunch of money to get their dock's and or boats back in order.

mendo247 11-18-2008 10:02 AM

Thats nuts! Are there people around these places or are they sitting somewhere else clueless?

salty87 11-18-2008 10:33 AM

i bet some of them don't even have trailers. docks only reach so far. i'm sure most people would have tried to make other plans. droughts like that don't exactly sneak up on ya.

Salty: Tri-Dam lower's the lake each year in the winter months its not a drought. This year they are lowering the lake like 25-30 feet lower than normal to try and kill some lake weed's. Im guessing that some people didn't hear the lake was going to the lower level in-time. Lots of people use these places only in the summer so I could see how it would be easy for their docks to end up the way they are. A local company is offering a service. $1,800 to take your dock to deep water and return it when the water go's back up in spring.

ahh, the trailer work, weeds...it all adds up now. i'm quick like that.

how long will it be lowered? they always hope we'll get a freeze when lake austin is lowered but it never seems to happen.

"G" Hows your dock at Ghetto Palms? Did you guys move it out, or is there enough room back there?

grant_west 11-18-2008 12:36 PM

They say by mid Jan the lake sould be another 15-20 lower than you see it now. Yea the hope is that the winter freeze will kill off whats left.
We had some great November weather this last weekend in Nor-cal. Mid to High 70's. Water was 57-59.

grant_west 11-18-2008 12:40 PM

Greg: We took our dock and re-located it in fornt of Andreas's house. His cement dock is high and dry and set in place for the winter. Our easy dock can be moved out as the water keeps going down. We wanna try and keep the pontoon boat in the water for as long as we can.
With the water going down and down its cool to check out explore the lake's hidden treasure.

back when I was very little they use to drop the lake down to a river. But that was when there was only houses by the campgrounds and very few around the lake.

pierce_bronkite 11-19-2008 9:42 AM

Probably a good time to find keys, sunglasses, dead bodies, anchors, etc.

dscorni 11-19-2008 9:46 AM
