Just curious what you think would be the AVERAGE boat hours per year. Not what a ski camp averages, but just the regular joe blow that goes out once or twice a weekend. My 96 Malibu has 343 hours, bought it last year with 255.

buguru 08-25-2007 12:26 PM

One of our customer's has 705 hours on a 2006 Malibu 247

1boarder_kevin 08-25-2007 12:31 PM

50-100 hours per year is what I would consider average.

drilldaddy78 08-25-2007 12:34 PM

I put 142 on my i/o so far this year. Service every 45 hours and will go year round thanks to bakersfields weather

westsiderippa 08-25-2007 1:33 PM

im about 200+ a year, we ride year round.

wakeslife 08-25-2007 2:41 PM

Almost 2 short seasons completed here, and about 180 hours

curtisco24 08-25-2007 3:15 PM

100 a season in TN. That is about 4 days a week.

metz213 08-25-2007 7:00 PM

Think about the gas that guy spent on that 247... Do the math...705 hours is 29 days of straight engine running... wow

ord27 08-25-2007 11:04 PM

I've had my boat 3 months
and have 65 hours on it

had my '05 for 2 summers and only had 110 at trade in

jayc 08-25-2007 11:16 PM

I'd say 75hrs a year is average for say a 6 month season.

rallyart 08-26-2007 1:15 AM

In western Canada you have about a 3 month season and most boaters would put on 25 to 30 in a year. 50 would be a high number for a season. Most people put on twice that average in their first season with a new boat.

I'll put on 16 hours a week when I'm at the lake but that's much more than most.

johnsvt 08-26-2007 5:27 AM

100 hours from april till now will probably be able to go until October maybe November if we get lucky.

drewsnautique94 08-26-2007 6:30 AM

i live in ohio.had boat out beg of may and have roughly 146 hrs on her so far....live on a private lake, so it gets used almost daily!

jay-75 hrs for 6 months- why even have a boat then, some of you guys fail to amaze me with these high dollar boats and payments and never use them!

nyelland 08-26-2007 7:59 AM

We put about 75 hours a year here in Cali. Great weather, but we only go about 4 times per month in season + vacation trips. I have to work all week so that leaves one day on the weekend and It is hard to make it work every week. Hours also depend on how far you have to go for smooth water. 10-15 mins. each way could be 2 more sessions of the day.

buzz_grande 08-26-2007 9:07 AM

From what I have seen, for the average wakeboarder, about 100 hours/season/yr. I have 590 on my 05 VLX though. Guess I am not that average.

mkperceptions 08-26-2007 3:46 PM

had mine since april and just looked at the hour meter in the engine compartment and it said 71

poser007 08-26-2007 3:50 PM

75 hours a year for me

jayc 08-27-2007 12:28 AM

why even have a boat then?

75hrs on the clock probably equates to around 300+hrs on the water for me since its not all about riding. Its about chilling with friends and enjoing the water.

ironj32 08-27-2007 4:31 AM

150 hours from April till now...probably have 2 months of riding left.

hatepain 08-27-2007 4:43 PM

I figure I have to get 100 hours a year just to get my moneys worth and another 20 just to keep my sanity. I have a 4 month nice weather season and another 2 months of full wet/dry suit weather so it's tough to rack up to many hours.

65sanford 08-28-2007 6:29 AM

We try to get out at least 80 hours per year in SE WI. Last 2 weeks worth of rain did not help but since getting the boat in late June, we have put on 62 hours with another month of riding to go. We do not ride with wetsuits or drysuits so the season up here is a little shorter--at least for us.

ccwhite 08-28-2007 6:54 AM

50hrs since Fathers day - Going out an average of 3x a week at 4hrs per.

c640947 08-28-2007 9:33 AM

my boat averages 150 a year and i ride on my boat about a 3rd of the time, so if i didn't share it would probably be 300 ish? (I wouldnt ride quite as much if I always had to take mine.)

ord27 08-28-2007 9:37 AM

I figure you are paying for a lifestyle

not a situation were you need to figure a return on investment....at least as far as time spent is concerned

if you have to figure what each hour or trip is actually costing......you probably should either get a less expensive boat....or a different activity

just my thoughts anyway........

entrustclothing 08-28-2007 9:57 AM

i do about 150 a year riding from march-october

fergie23 08-28-2007 11:44 AM

This is my second season with my Bu and it has 136 hours on it, but I'm not done yet for the year! So, at least 75+ hours per year.

supra_qc 08-28-2007 12:54 PM

first season on supra launch 20ssv, 120 hours on it.

big_b_21v 08-28-2007 2:10 PM

I bought this boat in July of 2006 and I currently have 275 hours on it. We ride from February until October weather depending. Regular oil changes and good Boat Whores are a must. Still looks and runs like its brand new.

calaman 08-28-2007 10:04 PM

first two months on the 21v - with 40 hours

hatepain 08-28-2007 10:59 PM

Cliff, I am always concerned/aware of how I spend my money whether or not I can afford it easily. I base my decision making on what I desire/love versus what I hope to accomplish for my and my kids future. my wife and I make a very comfortable living and I still wanna make sure I am spending my money wisely. I can easily afford my boat and more but I have plans on investing my money in a certain way that sets me up in the future i.e. real estate investments, 401k and general savings. I have a pretty gauldarn good lifestyle.
