I can't resize them and with photobucket and image shack it just posts a link. Anyone got suggestions?

You have to upload them here. This site doesn't allow any linking or anything like that.

Google is your friend:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/digitalphotography/learnmore/tips/eschelman2.mspx

If you're using a mac I think you can resize using preview.

Rich,
I tried that link and when I open up my pictures and right click theres no option for resizing. My desk top is Windows XP and laptop has Vista, I have not tried it on my laptop yet but most of my pictures are on my desk top anyways.

thanks

Michael, you are not supposed to open them. Simply select any (one at a time or 100 at once) like you were going to 'Cut' or 'Copy' them. When they are highlighted, then 'right click' on them. The little menu that pops up will have a new option embedded into it called 'Resize Pictures'...it should be like the 4th option down. You can then select small, medium, large, and a few others (including a custom option). Let me know if that doesn't work for you.

Michael,

I'm confused, so I'm going to start at the beginning to make sure we're on the same page.

#1. When you say you 'went' to the website, I'm making the assumption that you read it and then clicked the link to the 'image resizer' to get here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

#2. You should then have scrolled down on that page to the 11th option on the right hand side...saying 'Image Resizer.exe' You click on that file and install it.

#3. Once the file has been installed, then you should have the option of right clicking any picture on your computer to resize it. Note: Your cursor must be 'on' the picture when you right-click to get the 'resize pictures' option.

If you did this, sorry about sounding like an idiot...but I have no other solution if that doesn't work.

Another option: You could always go over to www.getpaint.net and get the free editor.
