First New Wakeworld Thread!

What are every one's thoughts on the new site?

eternalshadow 02-28-2010 4:33 PM

Ummm dude... this is going to take awhile to get used to. Wow... at this point I'm not a fan... but I will reserve judgement for a later period once I've had some adjustment time.

eternalshadow 02-28-2010 4:38 PM

Damn looks like my post count took a couple hundred hit!

Time to get posting?!?!?

wakeworld 02-28-2010 4:45 PM

Eternal, what don't you like. Throw is down cuz we need to know to make sure it works for as many as possible.

pucktowake 02-28-2010 5:02 PM

Is the new site open to everyone cuz I am still using the IP and I am too lazy to change it back to see?

bill_sloan 02-28-2010 5:08 PM

This is fricking sweet.

JJ 02-28-2010 5:15 PM

I love the new site but had to sign up again. Not sure why it wouldn't let me use my email and password from the old board but its no biggie.

Way too early to judge my friend. I will be interested to see how week one goes. See what becomes the sort of new "norm" around here. So far I dig it.

konaking 02-28-2010 5:17 PM

Going to take getting used to but so so good.

joshbuzz 02-28-2010 5:21 PM

wow

Crazy different. Like the new look of the site though.

wakeworld 02-28-2010 5:26 PM

If you had an account in the old system, you should be able to use your email to request a new password (passwords are encrypted so we couldn't bring them over). That way you will carry on with your old account which has your post count, sign up date, etc. Go here to request a new password for your account: http://www.wakeworld.com/lostpass.php

AntNoPrepNeeded 02-28-2010 5:26 PM

Sick!

finally made an account after reading for so long

I tried but never got an email.

bill_sloan 02-28-2010 5:29 PM

I got mine in seconds.

JJ 02-28-2010 5:32 PM

I got an email immediately when i setup a new account but nothing for my old account. I just tried again. I used a different email for the new account so I'll see if I can get it worked out. If not again no biggie.

dohboy 02-28-2010 5:38 PM

Wow here it is. Its gonna take some adjustment to get used to it.

wakereviews 02-28-2010 6:04 PM

I'm diggin it. Very nice work Dave, site looks fantastic.

pureblue 02-28-2010 6:21 PM

The new site looks great. I love the new front page, really has a nice new updated look. Is there going to be a section that replaces wakesideRides?

jasonpav 02-28-2010 6:23 PM

I like it, but It could be a little while be for I'm entirely used to it

otown_dave 02-28-2010 6:24 PM

Sweet! I've been fighting for about a hour to log in & Dave had to reset my password. It's like a whole new World!

srh00z 02-28-2010 6:27 PM

I haven't clicked around much, but on first glance, the new site looks great!

mattgettel 02-28-2010 6:32 PM

Very Nice

I haven't had much time to look into the detail of the site but it looks great to me!

srh00z 02-28-2010 6:37 PM

Does anybody know how to access the Sean O'brien video. I signed up for an account on Vimeo and it says it is a private video. Am I missing something?

jsweat 02-28-2010 6:38 PM

love the new site this is lookin good

loudontn 02-28-2010 6:41 PM

Love the new site, going to take some getting used to but love the forum.

fuller313 02-28-2010 6:46 PM

Love the front page! Looks like a a lot of thought went into the new site.

tn_rider 02-28-2010 6:53 PM

love the new site!!! gonna take some getting used to though

SkySki 02-28-2010 7:03 PM

Very Nice

Looks like we have been transformed into 2010 on here now. Very nice. And ahead of schedule I might add.

hockeysk8er222 02-28-2010 7:12 PM

WOOT WOOT!!! I knew this was gonna be great, thanks Dave!!!

etakk7 02-28-2010 7:13 PM

well done Dave!

norcalbordr 02-28-2010 7:14 PM

Nice website, I like it so far, but its gonna take some time getting used to where everything is.

Luker 02-28-2010 7:28 PM

this makes me nervous. I went ahead and bit the bullet for a username change and new account ;)

dmorrison22 02-28-2010 7:28 PM

Dig it

New site and forums look awesome! Job well done Mr. Williams.

westsiderippa 02-28-2010 7:35 PM

dave my post count is way off.
other people are have there name on my posts

eternalshadow 02-28-2010 7:36 PM

Hey Dave,

It's just that it's new at this point. It's new colour schemes and all that, it's just not what I'm used to. That's why I'm saying that I'll reserve judgement for a period after I've had a chance to adapt to the new site.

The homepage did take a bit of visual digestion as all these loud colours were thrown at me that I wasn't expecting, but again I'll reserve judgement.

I need to play with the site, see how it functions and all that. I also find that I'm needing to adjust to the user names of everyone after seeing first and last names for so long.

If I have any technical issues though I shall bring them to your attention, how would you best like us to do that? Email you? Or maybe you could start a stickied discussion if you already haven't that keeps it at the top of the page?

jon4pres 02-28-2010 7:51 PM

much different and kinda slow but I am sure I will get used to it.

It looks cool

Dizzzy 02-28-2010 8:00 PM

I believe that much of the criticism you may receive is because everything is new.

This is the first time I have logged into the new system, and yes I am uncomfortable with it. I also had to create a new account, but that was because I couldn't remember all my old info. It will take some time for me to get used to it.

I will say though, that this site looks much more professional and pleasing to my eyes. I think that this was a great move for biz, and once everyone gets used to it, which shouldn't take long, you will be very happy.

Great Work

rlwagens 02-28-2010 8:02 PM

All the new features are awesome, and the community stuff will only continue to get better, only wish there was another theme without such in your face colors, I feel like forums with mostly white as a background is too hard on the eyes...

And did the system switch break all the old pictures? I can't get any pictures in old posts to show up in Chrome.

wakeworld 02-28-2010 8:05 PM

The pics are still uploading right now, so hopefully they'll all be in place tomorrow.

rlwagens 02-28-2010 8:10 PM

Hmm works for me. Any luck on the secondary themes with darker, cooler colors idea? I don't have much experience with vBulletin, but I'm sure many people with less than stellar eyesight similar to mine would be extremely thankful. Black on gray > black on white

wakeworld 02-28-2010 8:19 PM

I do like that idea. I would like a softer color background too, so it's on the list. Unfortunately, there are a lot of items in front of it! :)

dohboy 02-28-2010 8:41 PM

whats with the points. How are they earned?

hawkeye7708 02-28-2010 8:57 PM

Wow... this new site is mind bottling... my head is literally in a bottle right now... It's gonna take a while to digest all the new eye candy! But overall, nice re-launch Dave!

nick_in_ssp 02-28-2010 9:17 PM

Very different.

wake_upppp 02-28-2010 9:23 PM

Looking very good Dave! New things are always fun to figure out!

rnopr8 02-28-2010 9:25 PM

Hey Dave....so far easy to use. I think it is just so new and different....it will take time to get used to...doesn't mean its not good. If this was our first time on we wouldn't know the difference. But nice job....and thanks for wanting to make an improvement.

PS..the REAL test will be the photo upload ;)

skongolf 02-28-2010 9:28 PM

Glad its back up and running, I was going through withdrawls!!! Definately a different look and will take getting used to and learn how to use. Like how you post updates on the home page.
Otherwise I do like it. As long as the same helpful people stay active on here, I am happy!! Thanks for all your hard work!

goinbigg17 02-28-2010 9:31 PM

So far I like what I see. It's a great fresh new look, good job Dave!

pucktowake 02-28-2010 9:38 PM

DId you know when your done typing your response you can just push alt+????

wakeworld 02-28-2010 9:43 PM

I'm assuming that will then post the message? Testing now. Nope, did nothing for me.

wakerider111 02-28-2010 9:59 PM

I Like it, sure it will take a little while getting used to it, but i am excited EVEN for that journey of getting used to it. reminds me of getting new wake gear, riding it, breaking it in, and getting used to it.

benbuchholz 02-28-2010 10:00 PM

Wow, i'm diggin the new site. gonna take a while to get used to all the new format and everything, but it'll come in time! Very nice Dave!

rvh3 02-28-2010 10:23 PM

Love the new classifieds.

dakid 02-28-2010 10:44 PM

re: homepage

shouldn't the "features" column be wider than the "latest in wake" and "wake blog" column?

dakid 02-28-2010 11:36 PM

can you make it so we can post in the quick reply box WITHOUT having to click on "quick reply" in one of the above posts?

wakeworld 02-28-2010 11:38 PM

Yeah, that's pretty annoying. Not sure what purpose that serves, but it already on my list.

wakeworld 02-28-2010 11:39 PM

Oh, and on your previous question, no.

cheesydog 02-28-2010 11:42 PM

love the new homepage

Like others have mentioned I find the white background very harsh on the eye for the forum, that would be my biggest turn off

ajholt7 03-01-2010 3:20 AM

Testing also. Nope nothing.

roughrivermike 03-01-2010 4:36 AM

I like it. Different, but good different.

Sean 03-01-2010 4:38 AM

I am Really Diggin The new site. Especially that we can embed videos Now...Sick Nice Job Guys.

sethenol 03-01-2010 4:49 AM

Yea this is rad!

pc_sledge 03-01-2010 5:05 AM

Testing 123... looking good Dave.

I'll chime in and say that I don't think I like not being able to read all the posts without clicking on them directly. Is there anyway we can get a display mode that will show all the text of every post? OR, maybe that is the "Hybrid" mode? However, when using that the ordering of the posts is pretty messy.

timmy 03-01-2010 5:56 AM

big fan of the "new posts" button!!!

dh03r6 03-01-2010 6:01 AM

Not a fan its to busy, i loved the old wakeworlds simple no clutter forums.

dave23 03-01-2010 6:50 AM

The new site is awesome. Job well done Dave!

Chuch 03-01-2010 7:07 AM

Testing 1,2,3...had to sign up for a new account. Old email address was history...

wakeboardern1 03-01-2010 7:14 AM

The only thing that I'm finding annoying is the username system here. Now I gotta go back through and relearn everyone's names on the site, but other than that, it's pretty sick. It does feel a little bit more cluttered, but I thinkthat is in part to the fact that the forum is in the center of the screen instead of the entire thing, like the old forums were. Iron, what areyou talking about not being able to read all of the text for posts? I haven't come across this. That sounds like a scary problem, especially for those of us who like those political topics with the mega posts that come every two or three posts.

And I took a close to 800 post count hit. Ahhhh nooooo. My almost 3 years of posting has been undid in a weekend. =P Jk, who caress.

eubanks01 03-01-2010 7:18 AM

Wow, very cool but will definitely take some getting used to! Way to go for all the hard work Dave.

behindtheboat 03-01-2010 7:22 AM

Agree on being busy, and would like to change my name up as it used to be opposite.

Seems it moved to what others use, I like how the old was, but I'm also into being basic. Once we get used to it we won't even remember the old one

highrock 03-01-2010 7:23 AM

Pretty cool new site. I am having trouble updating my profile, each time I hit save it goes back to the user login screen and never does anything. Anyone else having this issue?

andy_nintzel 03-01-2010 7:25 AM

Not Sure Yet

Man, this thing is different. At first I was totally taken Back, honeslty for a half a second I thought I clicked the wrong favorite in my bookmarks, I thought I hit Alliancewake.com. I looks great overall. Its kinda like a new car. Looks pretty but will take some getting used too. I think the hardest adjustment for me will the the forums. I really do like the fact that on the homepage or any page for that matter all the flashing banners a gone for the most part.

I think the hardest part so far was figuring out home to login to the forum, I never had to use my email before!

migs 03-01-2010 7:26 AM

lookin good

thescott 03-01-2010 7:31 AM

Like others have said, this is going to take a while to get used to. But I'm liking the look and the added content so far. Man...I'm not going to get any work done today!
Nice job WW! Didn't realize you guys were puting in this much work.

lyle 03-01-2010 7:35 AM

different for sure

dabell 03-01-2010 9:00 AM

This looks good. It will take a few days to get use to. It's almost like night and day compared to the previous WW forum.

wkbrdrchad 03-01-2010 9:27 AM

I like the new look!! Seems much easier to navigate throught the site once you figure out where everything is again.

tailgate 03-01-2010 9:44 AM

Looks good, need to play around with it to get you some feedback... I have to get used to the page numbers, I kinda liked that about the old forum, that it was all in one page...

tailgate 03-01-2010 9:46 AM

Also, is there a test thread where we can try posting images and what not... just to get used to it.. so we dont clutter up the main forums with test threads...

v220ls 03-01-2010 10:11 AM

Looks good so far. Like everyone else said big changes, kind of need to sink in, but looks sweet! I got an e-mail with my password info in seconds.

Nice work
G

nuckledragger 03-01-2010 10:52 AM

Like it so far. Works good on my Droid too, I was worried.

wakesurfer08 03-01-2010 10:53 AM

Looks good. Took a bit to get used to, but I like!

beryessaboarder 03-01-2010 11:00 AM

Looks good! Nice work Dave. ... That was a Loooong weekend!

behindtheboat 03-01-2010 11:19 AM

Long weekend

My GF asked if something was up, as I did not hop on her computer much over the weekend or comment about stuff seen on WW. Then after last nights "Finally!" she figured it out

Walt 03-01-2010 11:32 AM

Test.

stephan 03-01-2010 11:56 AM

Bravo

It is definitely different, I can see it allowing WW to provide a lot more user functions! Good job Dave, I bet you had a busy weekend! Keep it up.

Edit: I will say learning names is different. i doubt anyone knew me as Stephan, perhaps time to retire the old moniker...

nuckledragger 03-01-2010 12:35 PM

Dave
Any way to the first/last name listed as you post instead of just username?

I don't know what you're talking about. I see every post in full. Can you give me a link to a page where you see this?

wakeworld 03-01-2010 12:46 PM

As far as the user name goes, I'm going to get that changed to read like it did in the old system. For example, mine will say

David Williams (wakeworld)

We just didn't have time to get this change in.

If you're having any kind of login problems, please delete your browsers temp files and browsing history if you can. Then log out and re-boot your computer to make sure you're getting a fresh start. Let me know if the problems persist after that.

1niceharley 03-01-2010 1:15 PM

I like it.

97sunsetter 03-01-2010 1:18 PM

Sweet site, but the text is HUGE compared to the rest of the fourm such as usernames and even quotes within posts.

kyle_L 03-01-2010 2:29 PM

Yeah I had to make a new account also. My old account was set to my aol screen name which i haven't checked the mail in probably 3 years so i deleted all of them, and tried resetting my password 10 times and it never sent to me. So this is the new name, kyle_L formerly (kyle)lfxstar.

mendo247 03-01-2010 3:04 PM

Pretty nice for a bunch of Wakeboarders!

tcaz 03-01-2010 3:23 PM

I'll tell you what I do like is that, unlike most forums in this format, one page will hold about what I estimate 40 posts before a new page of a thread is started. That maintains some familiarity to the previous board. We know how WW threads tend to long and drawn out at times.

pucktowake 03-01-2010 4:01 PM

Where can I find my post count? I cannot find it on my profile!

ajholt7 03-01-2010 4:03 PM

right above what you just typed.
