The Colt or Trident

Im going to make the investment and get one of these boards. 250ish lbs ride behind 08 SANTE 210 with 1200lbs over stock ballast. I ride a Cortez and a Broadcast now and Koal from time to time. How would u compare these two boards against each other?

My vote goes for the Trident

The Colt is a hybrid (kind if surf/kind of skim) and the Trident is a tri fin skim.
The Trident is a really fun board and great to learn on, and when you are ready for it you can take off the side fins and have a pro level skim board. The carbon makes it super fast and responsive for a skim board that big. It really allows you to progress.

The Colt is a very good boat board though.

Im leaning toward the trident myself. Question is if I wanted to carry just the one board would the trident be useable by newer riders aswell? More so then the Colt.

i just got a trident i am 6'4 and range in wieght 230 to 250 i have not road it yet, but have a custom hazen 4'11, great board, but you have to pump it, its a workout, i have a is swalllow and it is uber fast, great board, does not release easy, but you can get some air, an oogle, i never ride it, and have had a bunch of others, i think the trident is going to ge a good board for us big buys,

Another question, in the video on the Phase 5 website the video of the Trident they show a non carbon fiber version of the Trident. Not sure I need the carbon one is the non still available?

They only make Carbon ones for 2012. California Marine Sports has a leftover non-carbon (texilum) in stock in blue though.

The trident would work for anyone 170lbs and up whether they are just starting of not. It is a lot of surface area so light people will have a hard time slowing it down because they cant sink it enough (the board is very fast). It also works well on small wakes.
Because it is thin, beginners can easily flip it up to their feet, and with the small 1 inch fins the board is not too responsive/aggressive for first timers.

The Trident is a great board to have on the boat. Almost everyone can ride it (as long as they arent too light) and you can progress with it. The Colt works well also, but doesnt allow you to progress quite as far as the trident. The Colt also doesnt work well with riders that are too light, so they are even there.

Not being a pro will I tell the difference in the texilum and the carbon fiber?
