Hi ladies,

I'm new here. I may as well start introducing myself. I'm a 25 yrs old "veteran" snowboard competitor. I've sort of stopped snowboard competitions and I've been wakeboarding on and off for the past decade behind various boats (mostly crappy ones without even a tower or a decent wake). Although, this year I'm riding regularly behind a Malibu Wakesetter and I'm planning on improving quite a bit. I would really like to try a local wakeboard contest in Ontario or Quebec, but I really don't know what the level of womens riding is out in the female wakeboard world. I simply ride with my boyfriend and his guy friends.....

What are the average FEMALE competitors throwing and sticking regularly up here?

I don't necessarily want to win a contest, but maybe just meet more good girls who ride, make friends, improve my skills and compete for fun without having to finish last.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Hello,

I can't speak for much up there but around here contests with a women's division are mostly for fun. Generally we are all lumped in together regardless of skill so you might see one wake jumps, W2W 180s and a rare invert thrown by all different people in the same women's division. I usually ride just to do MY best and try not to worry about what the other gals are throwing. There was one season where I was consistently beat by a 12 year old - my only solace was when the contest was over I could stay up as late as I wanted and she probably had a bedtime!

The other option that you could consider is to enter the contests in the "regular" AKA men's division. Here near Chicago its Beginner - which is no spin greater than 180 and 1 invert allowed, Intermediate - which is up to 3 spins and/or inverts, and Outlaw - which is where anything goes.

Have fun this summer and let your snowboard skills work for you! Keep us posted!

Thanks Liz - sounds like its at my level! Now I just have to find a contest to hit up. I can't wait to try it out and meet new people.

MF
