Alittle video of some numbing temps and riding April 1st. No dry suit and a picnic table for a dock. Post if you have gotten in your first ride in Wisconsin.

mjmurphy53711 04-03-2006 2:57 PM

forgot to post the vid mang.

sculmosis5 04-03-2006 4:34 PM

http://www.wakepics.com/img/18585

this should be the link for it. Hopefully it works. Let us know when your in town. after May 17th it will be hard for me to get out other than early early mornings. Later.

mjmurphy53711 04-03-2006 4:55 PM

nice! congrats on getting out guys, and it was cool to see a video with the backdrop of madison in the background.

Good editing skills too, props.

scottyb 04-03-2006 6:13 PM

I am the one who actually forgot to post the link, I am an idiot.
aaron_l 04-03-2006 8:43 PM

I like it

gmarkham1 04-03-2006 9:09 PM

dang it you guys suck... i no longer own the title for first on the water.... i BET monona was as cold as a witchs teat...

nice vid though... looking forward to a kickass year!

aldrichiii 04-04-2006 11:21 AM

That must have been freezing. I'm over on Lake Mendota...wouldn't dare go out on the water yet. Ice cleared maybe a week ago. That took some balls (which there probably is a lack thereof now.)

sbt3 04-04-2006 1:51 PM

you guys need to invest in a drysuit. It's the best accessory I have, it makes early and late season riding much more enjoyable.

gmarkham1 04-04-2006 2:36 PM

these guys are hardcore...or young and dumb... haha j/k guys, scot has trunked everytime we been out early, maybe once he wore my drysuit...

kelli22 04-04-2006 2:40 PM

Anyone in the Milwaukee area???? I want to go boarding SOOOO BAD this week before my first tournament this weekend and no one has there boat in the water yet or wants to go.

Kels

damned04 04-04-2006 3:05 PM

Im in kenosha area, il be out in 24 days or whenever water warms up to around 60....whatever comes first

aaron_l 04-04-2006 3:12 PM

Can'r we be hardcore AND young and dumb? Ha, anyway Gordon, I don't think I even got to ride with you once last season, so you'd better be out with us sometime this summer.

gmarkham1 04-04-2006 3:23 PM

definately going to try....

you will have to come down and check out the new ride...

gmarkham1 04-04-2006 3:24 PM

oh and yeah... they both kind of go hand in hand!

smylie 04-04-2006 3:33 PM

I live in madison and want to ride so bad, got a new board and bindings that need to be broke in. Last years premier 141, and this years murray bindings, should be good for the cold weather cause of the close toe and all...

mracrew 04-04-2006 3:40 PM

yea i rode april 1st at lauderdale lakes near elkhorn. Best thing was didnt have to get in the water at all and it was GLASS. I wore a full suit and my friend wore jeans and a coat lol.

mjmurphy53711 04-04-2006 5:43 PM

Smylie....look me up in about 3 weeks brah.

smylie 04-04-2006 5:44 PM

alright, sweet, you coming back i assume?

mjmurphy53711 04-04-2006 6:17 PM

may 1st, just for a couple three months.

wazzy 04-04-2006 8:37 PM

Glad to hear somebody has been out already. I was snowboarding in the UP last weekend & am ready to hit the water now!!!

www.midwestwakefest.com

dizzyg 04-05-2006 7:28 AM

I'm about ready in Oconomowoc, finishing off the ballast system. The boat will probably be in the water by Sunday this weekend, if the weather holds

point1234 04-05-2006 8:39 AM

Drove past mendota this morning and its glass. Cant wait till i get the boat in may. If anyone is looking for a pull. give me a shout. i only work three days a week so when iam not working ill try and get out on the water. just looking for a little gas money. and good times

scottyb 04-05-2006 9:25 AM

Danny did you buy that setup from Redline Watersports??? Me and Brandon both work there.

mjmurphy53711 04-05-2006 10:28 AM

Jim, I have an older DD on Lake Kegonsa, but I ride a lot and sometimes have trouble finding a regular crew to ride with due to conflicting schedules and such.....generally hoping to ride weekday evenings and weekend early mornings.

Drop me a line at mike@mid westwakeboarder.com and we will hook up, but Im in tahoe until May 1st.

Also, I have a rave slider if you want to try it out.

point1234 04-05-2006 10:35 AM

I bought an X1 just looking for people to ride with. especially during the weekdays. live in waunakee. And mendota being so close ill probaly be going there. but i have no problem going down to Kegonsa. Used to live in stoughton.

mjmurphy53711 04-05-2006 11:00 AM

kegonsa is a gem, other than that monona is a great place to ride as well......mendota is rough other than mornings, and tends to be the most crowded.

Im good for gas money, and dying to try out an x1!

Scot Skully and crew have a slip on monona, and Gordon and I make up the old guy crew on kegonsa and the rock river in Janesville (best place to ride).

point1234 04-05-2006 11:06 AM

Cool iam excited about the summer. Getting the boat may 4th. looking to get rid of a jet ski now. any takers. Also props on the video cool to see something close to home. earliest ive been out is middle of may. with a dry suit

(Message edited by point1234 on April 05, 2006)

sculmosis5 04-05-2006 1:44 PM

Man, reading all these posts is really pumping me up for the season. If we usually ride early morning...like early early...we try to be out before sunrise. If anyone is interested when the season kicks off send me an e-mail, we usually can use a third or fourth and the extra gas money. We have to be in by about 8:30 and sometimes earlier to get to work.

my e-mail is scullionb@gmail. com

Mike looking forward to riding this year. Be sure to call when you get into town. I am game for the slider as well as long as I am not working.

kelli22 04-05-2006 1:50 PM

I love Kegonsa!!! My Dads aunt and uncle used to have a place on that lake and we were out there all the time jet skiing.

Kels

gmarkham1 04-05-2006 5:11 PM

well, got the bayliner out for its bon voyage cruise tonight, the river was glass, jason rode, I did not, but it will be sad to see it go on saturday....

Now with any luck the new launch 21v will be here within the week(maybe by the weekend!)

scottyb 04-05-2006 7:58 PM

I loved the bayliner, but I am SOOOOO stoked for the 21v, I think maybe the 21v maybe the boat I try my next raley on....

smylie 04-05-2006 10:26 PM

hey, i got the bindings from redline a couple weeks ago, but i got the board from a shop online! i cant wait to ride!

mjmurphy53711 04-06-2006 8:38 AM

next raley? wish i had seen the first.....did you go to sleep?

gordon, why didnt you ride?

Im going to miss drinking hot chocolate in that bayliner mang. I loved going big off it as we passed the bling boats full of people chilling more than riding.

Skully, tell Paul and Mindy you will sell more boards if you get your riding fix.

gmarkham1 04-06-2006 10:09 AM

Am I the only wondering what in the heck mang is?

j/k mike...

There was a lot of crap in the water and didnt want to have jason drive and hit something especially since the deal is going down on saturday... I have enough other things going on!

I hear you.. it almost makes me reconsider getting rid of it... if only it had a little more room... oh well, I will just have to settle! haha!

mjmurphy53711 04-06-2006 2:10 PM

its alright, classy enough boat maybe we will do some "chillin" too ha.

Probably not though, we usually have other things on our mind.

So last year my predictions were only half right (scott got the tantrum, and skully went toe 5's instead of the indy tantrums I was calling).

So this year, Im calling Skully on a toe 7, me switch 5, scotts gonna be banging threes for sure, and gordons gonna dial the backrolls.

sbt3 04-06-2006 2:42 PM

I am going to have to ride with you guys at some point this season. I haven't had the chance to yet. Gordon, you won't miss the bayliner a bit. Once you get into a v-drive you'll wonder how you managed without. I thought the same thing about my tristar. I liked the boat alot but certainly don't miss it.
Mike, it sounds like you guys are pretty decent riders. I would like to check it out. Maybe I can help get you past the hump on some things. Toe 7's are tuff. I have 5's dialed and can't quite get that extra 180 in there. Maybe this year too. I don't get out to madison to ride much though. too easy to just take the golf cart down to the lake. Brooke and I should be out for sure by next weekend, this one looks pretty crappy. It will give me a chance to get the boat ready though.

dizzyg 04-06-2006 2:48 PM

I'm game, and Gordon, maybe we'll actually see you this summer! None of that last minute, I'm not coming crap! Yeah, I said it! I'm calling you out!

I'm down to ride whenever I can, mostly weekends for me unless I'm "working from home" for a day.

I don't miss our '95 sunsetter at all, I liked it most of the time, but I really don't miss it.
aaron_l 04-06-2006 4:56 PM

I don't get a prediction Mike, what's up with that? Ha, just kidding, I think I only got to ride with you once last year, when my board almost took out Brandon. So yeah, I am so stoked for this season, it's gonna be incredilbe. 5 weeks until it really gets going!

gmarkham1 04-06-2006 5:01 PM

Did I just hear someone volunteer to host the First Annual Southern Wisconsin Wakeboarder Association get together at their place on the lake???? haha...
stan and brooke I definately owe you guys for backing out so many times, let me know early about next week and I will do my best to convince my wife that I need to go.... I was on a tight leash before when she was pregnant, but now that we have a baby and a new boat, it is even tighter!

(Message edited by gmarkham1 on April 06, 2006)

point1234 04-06-2006 5:53 PM

that sounds like a good time a little get together
gmarkham1 04-07-2006 4:19 AM

CLassic....

I jumped the gun a bit... next weekend is easter isnt it? Well I have family(read my PITA brother) coming to town and he is staying with us, no way I am getting out of the house next weekend...

I woke up from a dream with that startling thought... and yes I was dreaming that I was wakeboarding..

(Message edited by gmarkham1 on April 07, 2006)

dizzyg 04-07-2006 7:58 AM

there you go, cancelling again!

Easter just marks a long weekend for riding!

gmarkham1 04-07-2006 8:13 AM

said like a bachelor...

seahorse 04-07-2006 4:39 PM

Ok, Ok, so the big announcement is being released a little later than you might expect from [BS], but I've been a little distracted with Grad School. She's really really sorry, but I'm DONE!

A lot is in the works, but I wanted to at least get you guys the dates and locations of our comps so you can get your summer calendars in order. Here's what we've got going on:

June 4th - [BS] Summer Series Stop #1 - Lake Andrea, Pleasant Prarie, WI - That's right...This is where the WWA Wakeboard Nationals are held!! What a great way to get familiar with the site!!!

June 17th - [BS] Summer Series Stop #2- Mars Resort, Lake Como, WI - This is our second year at this site. It's a sweet set up with lots of fun!

June 21-22 - Liqiud Force "Maven Stop" - J. Fitzwoody's on Twin Lakes, WI - We have almost ALL of the LF girls lined up for this FREEEEEEEE clinic!!!

July 10 - [BS] Summer Series Stop #3 - Aquanut Water Ski Shows Site - always a good site!! Not to mention the home of a pretty famous rider!

July 29th - [BS] Summer Series Stop #4 - Fox Lake, IL - Same one we've been doing the last 4 years!

August 23-28 - WWA/Wakeboard Nationals - Pleasant Prarie, WI

September 9th - [BS] Summer Series Stop #5 - 4th Annual Wonder Lake Wake-Off/[BS] Summer Series Finals! Always our biggest local comp of the year!

You might be thinking that we've cut down on our comps from last year. Well, YOU'RE RIGHT!! We thought we would make them more significant, bigger and have an even bigger amount of prize money for everyone at each stop! Not to mention that getting everything ready for Double Up del Noche will be taking up a lot of our time!!!

Keep posted at www.lakegenevaboardshop.com (I'm working on it now! )

seahorse 04-07-2006 4:42 PM

Ok, well when I tried to make the MOST IMPORTANT EVENT big and red it got cut out, so...

August 28th - Second accual "Double Up del Noche" - Summerfest Grounds, Milwaukee, WI. If you thought last year was huge, we can't even begin to tell you what's in store for you THIS year!!
mjmurphy53711 04-07-2006 5:19 PM

ha, whats up keni? looking forward to catching up with you guys and I def owe both you and jayson a beer for hooking us up with kyle.

stan/brooke, way cool to meet you guys.

Aaron=frontroll. ya?

lizrd 04-07-2006 6:53 PM

Count me in for the Maven stop....and the Double Up -- was that ever fun!

mjmurphy53711 04-08-2006 5:38 PM

Double Del Noche was one of the best events ive ever seen put together....

Okay guys here is a good question for yous.

Ive been talking with Gordy Bubolz ( www.wakeboardingcamp.com ) about getting some group things together and we have come up with two things, one early season and one late season.

Option one, only for 3-5 of us is an all day private session with Gordy (best teacher ive met, rips, all around good guy.) 100 dollars per person on an 06 xstar. Should be at least 3 and probably 4 sets per person.

The second thing we are talking about is a late season deal with 20-30 people on the xstar, x2, and another boat for around 30 bucks a person. This would get a set or two and a cookout.

Who is interested? The small group thing is going to happen in May.

gmarkham1 04-08-2006 6:14 PM

mike you got me down already....

on another note, the bayliner is now on its way to North Dakota!

I am told the new boat will be here any day!

mjmurphy53711 04-09-2006 7:59 AM

okay, thats one on board....anyone else?

mjmurphy53711 04-09-2006 10:48 PM

paul? how about you buddy, one more and this thing is a go.

sbt3 04-10-2006 6:19 AM

Mike, you got a date on it? I would be interested, but I have a possible work trip coming out of country and would need to make sure that it doesn't conflict.

dizzyg 04-10-2006 8:13 AM

we're in and ready in Oconomowoc. I hope to ride this coming weekend, took the boat out for a spin to be sure all was well yesterday. It was hard not jumping in for a quick set but I realized I left my handle in Milwaukee so that idea went south in a hurry.

mjmurphy53711 04-10-2006 8:53 AM

Stan, the date is wide open for anytime in May. For me, later is better just to pull the rust off a bit and get the most out of the clinic.

We all need to just throw dates around until we come up with something that works for everyone and then confirm it. 3 people minimum, 5 max, and if we end up with 5 it will probably be less than 100 but no way you will get 4 sets either.

For reference think about 25 per set, not rushed. Gordon did you want to throw the first date out there? Gordy's first camps start June 11th.

lizrd 04-10-2006 1:32 PM

I'd be down for it if you don't mind a female in the boat and if the date works for me. I've heard great things about Gordy & his coaching - not that I'm working on anything that complex! You thinking a river or a lake?

sbt3 04-10-2006 1:56 PM

Mike, once you guys set a date let me know, maybe drop me an email. I will try to figure out my work schedule and let you know if I can make it. I haven't been to a coach before but wouldn't mind seeing what it could do.

mjmurphy53711 04-10-2006 2:53 PM

Lizrd, Gordy rides on the Wolff, its a nice spot. Stan, no prob.

gmarkham1 04-10-2006 4:15 PM

I am thinking either the weekend before memorial day or the one after...

mjmurphy53711 04-11-2006 12:20 PM

Gordon im lazy, give me dates.....

And Gordon, if you can lock down a date for SURE Ill work this around you, Id like you to be there. Whats up with Paul?

gmarkham1 04-11-2006 12:28 PM

I am lazy too....

may 21 or june 4

btw the new boat will be in on thursday and I will take delivery on friday... I already have the day off... I think I will be doing some major break in this weekend... of course I have to work around all the holiday bs!

stan do either of those day works for you?

(Message edited by gmarkham1 on April 11, 2006)

dizzyg 04-11-2006 12:36 PM

ahem, I thought you were busy this weekend and couldn't ride? I believe that's what you said!

Bring it to Okauchee, we'll help break it in for ya

anyone else that cares to come out, I've got the ballast system pretty much ready to go, hoping that when I apply power it works as I have planned. 520lbs of lead should be here Thursday for the rest of it!

ryan_shima1 04-11-2006 1:03 PM

Brooke, your wake will be mackin' even more this year. Can't wait to ride behind it the next time I'm in Milwaukee.

Gordon, congrats on the new ride. The 21V is a great boat for boarding. Post some pics after you get it.

I've known Gordy for about 10 years now and not only is he a great rider/instructor but one classy guy. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn from him because he's worth every cent. The Wolf River is also a great area to ride on, and if you need new gear, check out the folks at Fort Fremont Marine right down the river from Gordy's. You can't find a more fair and nice crew with a great selection to choose from.

gmarkham1 04-11-2006 1:05 PM

I knew you were going to say that... what i said was that I couldnt leave town this weekend... I am still not going to be able to drive... I have ten hours of break-in to get done.

sbt3 04-11-2006 1:30 PM

Gordon, not sure on those dates. I emailed germany today to find out if they need me to go or not. Hopefully I will hear back soon from them.

As far as breaking it in doesn't that just mean filling it full of ballast and pulling some riders. Its early in the season so chances are they will be falling a bunch which will help vary the rpms.

Brooke my steering cable should be in tomorrow and then I should be ready to go by the weekend also.

I can't wait to get on a board again. I am fricked dying.

ryan_shima1 04-11-2006 1:58 PM

Hey Stan,
Get the Ibuprofen ready.

As much as I love boarding, I hate how my body feels this time of the year after not riding for about 6 months. I'm still not in riding shape

Anyways, Pam sent some pics of Nadine yesterday. She's getting big so fast. She'll be on the board in no time!

sbt3 04-11-2006 2:27 PM

Ryan,
I was hoping the kiting would get me in shape cause I was sore as heck from that, but I haven't been out on it for a few weeks now. I am looking forward to being sore. All I did this winter was get fat.

Are you going to be in town anytime soon?

It is amazing how fast Nadine is getting bigger. I leave for work for a week and she is differnt. It is cool though. I can't wait to get her out.

mjmurphy53711 04-11-2006 2:33 PM

Stan you kiteboard? Id love to learn.....Mendota in madison would be a great place for it, and im so close it would eliminate the problem of getting a third.

Im really going to be lacking regular riders this year, so Brooke, when I get back from tahoe in about two weeks Id be happy to help fill the tank!

Ryan, arent you a westcoaster?

About the gordy camp, Gordon if you can let me know for sure Id like to seal the deal. And damnit, tell Paul he is too old not to go to old mans camp with us.

ryan_shima1 04-11-2006 2:42 PM

Stan,
Not sure if or when I would be coming to Milwaukee yet. I'm in renegotiations with US Speedskating about my future with the organization as I've gotten a really good offer to coach in Japan. So I don't know what's goign to happen at this point. I'll definitely let you know if I'll be coming to town. When's your houseboat trip again?

Mike, I currently live in Utah (not sure if that's considered the west coast) but I lived in Milwaukee for 13 years so it's my second home away from Hawaii. I've only been in Utah for 4 years now but it's been slow to feel like home. But it's getting there. The riding scene is strong out here but I do miss the good ole days on Okauchee.

dizzyg 04-11-2006 2:42 PM

mike, be happy to have you out with us, give me a shout when you're back around. I love spring riding!

kelli22 04-11-2006 4:24 PM

After riding last weekend in Iowa I can't wait to get out and ride!!!!

Kels

mjmurphy53711 04-11-2006 6:22 PM

kels, howd ya do?

the_dh 04-11-2006 8:24 PM

Mike I'll be back this summer. Hit me up any time you're looking for a 3rd and I'll do the same.

sbt3 04-12-2006 6:20 AM

Ryan keep me posted on your job status. I would hate to see you leave but you got to do whats best for you. The trip is aug 14-18th.

Mike- Yeah I started kiting this past winter. I haven't done it on the water yet but I am hopefully going to get out soon. I had to get my kite fixed, I had a couple of seams start to rip from using it on the ice. I should have it back soon. If you are looking to get into it I would highly suggest that you take lessons. I would get a trainer kite first and practice with that to get the basics down. You are probably going to be into it for at least $1500 to start. That is just kite and harness. I have a guy in madison that gives lessons. That is who taught me. If you want drop me a email and i will get you his info. My email is in my profile.

Kels- this weekend is a go for Brooke and I. Let me know if you are free.

dizzyg 04-12-2006 11:10 AM

my ballast switches came yesterday! I can't believe that they were free, look like the factory ones, came with wires and a wiring diagram! I think they come with the jabsco pumps, but MB sports hooked me up!

sbt3 04-12-2006 12:09 PM

Brooke- my cable isn't here yet. I just talked to Rich and he thinks it will be in today or tomorrow. I am hoping so. At least your ride will be ready. You still owe me pretty many pulls, I have it written down at home so worst case we can start working those off this weekend.

dizzyg 04-12-2006 12:50 PM

I'll be ready. Friday am busy until early afternoon but will already be out there so I hope to get the switches and all the water ballast finished off and tested Friday afternoon/evening. The lead should be here tomorrow, not sure how the VW is going ot handle 540 extra lbs and the carpool buddy but I guess I'll find out.

We took it for a cruise last sunday evening, it started right up like I had been using it earlier in the day, not like it was sitting around all winter! Not even a sputter, just turned and it sprang to life!
mjmurphy53711 04-12-2006 2:57 PM

Collin nice! I suppose your riding in Orlando, and how is the floor?

FYI I dont have your number anymore, so hit me with an email.

gmarkham1 04-14-2006 4:31 PM
