Cover Options

Having a tower installed on my 205. Boat will be on a lift most of the time, so tie downs are not really an option. Anyone have recommendations on a cover?

I had a 2 piece, snap on cover on my last boat. I loved it. If it was a little cold, we would put the front part on to block the wind.

IMO, leaving your boat on a lift year round really takes a tool on your boat. If your really particular about your boat a custome full cover ( over the tower) is yrou best bet, but pricey. If not Have a good trailer-able cover made with rachett's ( to cinch under the rub rail). I say trailerable b/c my boat is on a lift year round on open water and the wind can cause a normal cover to rub marks all over the gel. Expect anything on your tower to get torn up pretty good by the elements. I'm in a very humid environment ( Houston, Texas) all my friends have the same issues.

I usually end up paying abtou $500/year to have the boat professionally detailed. This is a must IMO, to keep the boat looking good.

Within about 6 months even on a brand new boat all the aluminum pieces ( polished ) and chrome look like crap.

and add skirting if you can ( to the cover) the sun beats the crap out of my boat too. If its' a dark color, it will tend to oxidize very fast.

Thanks! It'll just be on the lift April-Nov, and I'll take it out and clean it often.

Do a search, there are great ideas with photos attached of over the tower designs that are easy and secure on the lifts.

I've owned snap on covers before & now have a Rankin. I will forever walk about from any boat deal if it has snaps on it. Over time the holes crack, snaps get pulled out, and just plain look like hell. I'm not a fan of having big clunky ratchets on the cover eiither. The wind will beat it to death on your boat if it's not absolutely tight.
The Rankin (or Evolution now days) doesn't use any of that hardware. It covers all the vents & glass on the boat, keeps the bugs out & windows clean. One draw string & 5 straps secure it good enough to tow it down the freeway. Cory & Evolution will make side or rear skirts for it if needed.
We leave the boat on the lake for weeks at a time. It really takes a lot of the work out of boat ownership. Clean it once a month, pick up the garbage & wipe down the interior daily, and enjoy your time on the water.
