Amp to replace JL M4300
After 8 good years, my JL M4300 amp has given up the ghost. It was used to power 2 stocker Clarion 6.5 Mastercraft tower speakers and channel 3&4 bridged to power a 12" Alpine type R.
I don't need the best or the latest and greatest, nor do I care to hear it while I'm wakeboarding. Basically, just keeping things working. Do I spend a few hundred on the JL M400/4 or is there something else out there for less money that of have similar results with, both in performance and longevity? Thanks in advance |
A lot of people have good luck with the Precision Power P900.4 for <$200.

I like the JL Audio M400/4. It's under-rated by about 35% and it still produces all of its rated power with a lower 12.6 volt supply and across the entire audio bandwidth. It's a true marine unit with a closed chassis and a sealed cover panel. Nice to have all the connections down one side. You get extra noise filtering. You also get a great quality front end with superior crossover filters. Much higher operating speeds than other analog switching amplifiers (D Class). There's a lot to like.

Can you send it in to JL for repair? Everyone I have known that has sent in amps for repair were amazed at how inexpensive it was compared to buying a new amp.
