Looking for a little advice on which board for me. I'm about 6'2 235 and still pretty new to wakeboarding. I'm looking for a new board that will work well for me. I think I'd like to go with the Marius but only being a 140 kind of scares me. Any opinions?

Marius is wider and rides a shorter length 140 will be fine for you. I am close to your size and have a 140.

I ride the Transcend and love it. I also have a Faction and love it also. I rode the 2007 Marius 140 Platty for about 5 sets and hatted it. tried to give it a chance but was not feeling it.
If you can DEMO. By the way I'm only 6' 245

Being a newer rider, I think the Faction suits you best---continuous rocker, very forgiving and soft landings. Great price too.

The Marius is one of those boards you need to ride first. You'll either love it or hate it. It's one of the only boards that I would recommend trying before you buy. I personally couldn't ride it, but a few of my friends swear by it.

I ride the new Transcend, and I think it's the best boards ever. It does everything great. It has all of the pop, it's super smooth, and fast. Not too loose and not too tight. I prefer the Platinum model also.

I was riding the 07 Faction for half of 07 then got on the 08 Faction and the difference is amazing. The 08 is a hair faster, and a ton lighter than the 07. Lots of predictable pop, and great soft landings. It would be a great board for you to learn and advance on.

I have ridden the Transcend as well but didn't like it quite as much as the Marius or the Faction.

I now ride the 08 Marius and love it. TONS of pop, and very soft on the landings. It is more of and intermediate/advanced board however, and would take some getting used to at first.

I would probably recommend the Faction, being that you can progress with the board and it will be easier for you to ride at your level.

If you end up getting either the Marius or the Transcend, you will probably want to get the non-platinum version, as they are a bit more brittle, plus softer on your body.

As Kevin said, DEMO them all before buying. Good luck.

Harris 145....nuff said.

For real dude i just hopped on this board today and it is soooo nice. HUGE pop, cushy landings, and super fast, looks badass too! Im 6`2 too man and this board fits me perfect. most boards sink a little when i edge but the harris doesnt budge. Ive rode the marius 140 militant 140 and the team 139 and this board takes the cake man.

Check it out

And the 07 142 is really a 145 aswell.

Another vote for the Faction, after hearing BBR & Chuck rave about it, I tried it and am sold. Nice and smooth, real predictable and tons of pop for a continuous.

08 Faction 144cm.

you can't go wrong w/ any of the boards you mentioned. i do suggest you demo each one though, as each one's ride is different from the other.

Dave, if we ever go out again you can try out my Marius 140 Platty, I love that board.

waketherainbow 01-11-2008 1:22 PM

how loose compared to the LF Substance does the transcend ride without the fin extensions?

xbones 01-11-2008 1:49 PM

About the same but transcend held an edge better for me.
