Have any of you guys have any experience with taking off your tower for one reason or another? I need to get my tower repainted, it went from bright red to dull pink. I was planning on taking it into a shop and having it powder coated, as compared to taking it into the boat shop and having them paint it. I figure this should be a cheaper option, but I am concerned with unscrewing it from the boat--Will it damage it, will it go back on just like before. Btw, it is a Super Air.

It's actually much easier than you think. It helps to have to people. One person with a large phillips on the top holding the screw and then you down under with a socket. You can probably have it off in ten minutes. I would take the top portion off first so that it isn't so unweildy to handle.

I just did this on my '03 during my spring cleaning. One note.....put antiseize on the bolt thread before you take off the nut. CC seems to of used some crap SS and it is possible for the nut to seize on the bolt.

Of coarse....it will definitely be harder if you have wires already running through the tower as you will have to cut those.
