Sanger V215 with group 27 batteries?

Anybody put group 27 batteries in their 215's? I need to replace my dual group 24's that are located under the rear seat but it looks like they won't fit there due to the recessed fiberglass box that the batteries currently sit in. I really dont want to relocate them because my rear lockers are taken up by 750lb sacs and I'm not willing to lose any storage under the passenger compartment. Just wondering if anyone has come up with a solution.

Thanks!

Why not just replace your batteries w G24's? Sorry if Im missing the point here...

I am considering the same thing. A group 24 is one of the smallest of the marine batteries. A group 27 has quite a bit more juice and has the same height and width. The length is increased to about 12.5 inches.

Really? What brand are they? I was looking at some interstate marine but the length on the 27's is 12 3/4" where as my rough measurement of the fiberglass dip is about 12 1/4 wide before I put a battery box in there. Can u post up a picture?

My boat is at my cabin and don't remember the brand. But I had to remove the battery box and the battery fits snug in the recessed area and will not move. The shop I bought the batteries from actually let me take one home to test fit before I bought because I didn't think it would fit either.

I think my Optima "blue-tops" are 27's, if I remember correctly. Without knowing much at the time (not that I know much now), when I needed a replacement I wanted the best and bought the most expensive, thinking it would rid me of ever being stranded on the water again. Well, It fits in my '07 V215, but I had to put the battery-top covers (black pieces of plastic) in storage due to the size, but the seat fits fine and you'd never know otherwise.

I replaced a group 24 battery that was in a battery box with a group 27 without a battery box in the recessed fiberglass area under the rear seat of my 2005 Sanger V215. I used the strap from the box to keep the battery secure and put the lid of the box over the battery to keep stuff away from the terminals. Worked fine for me. The battery was the group 27 marine deep cycles that Costco sells.
