question for everyone
I have a supra 24 ssv which I love, the boat is only used on lake Powell. I usually park my houseboat about 2 to 3 hours by houseboat in a cove for a couple of weeks, people have to go back early which means my boat ,is used, why do mfg's not have a two speed tranny??? one for wakeboard speed and one for cruising ???, or do I need to add a go fast boat????

Its not a question of gears but power to drag. An I/O you can trim the hull out of the water which greatly reduces the drag and increases the speed to a given power, we don't have that option with V-drives, the surface area of the hull is pretty much fixed and the drag grows exponentially with speed.

MB's used to have two speed trannies back in the mid 2000's. Not sure how that worked out for them. Pretty sure they only offered that for a couple of years. I'm sure someone else here can give better info about it.

The MB one was used for pulling out of the hole and then wakeboard speed. Not wakeboard speed and cruise speed.
Sounded like a bag of hammers dropped in the waste disposal when it changed gear. |
