Here are two more places: <BR> <BR><a href="http://superbrightleds.com/festoon.html" target="_blank">http://superbrightleds.com/festoon.html</a> <BR> <BR><a href="http://www.logisyscomputer.com/" target="_blank">http://www.logisyscomputer.com/</a> <BR> <BR>They sell replacement LED bulbs for the existing lights and other LED lights too. You'd need the bulb number to get replacement LED bulbs. <BR> <BR>(Message edited by kvoman on February 29, 2008)

I have a similar question. Who's got a puck to replace the tweeter for the CM1632-RET? My boats not real close right now. I'm going to be replacing all of the Clarion with some new 6.5" coaxials and I'm guessing my best bet for the old tweeter holes will be a LED puck. Any great ideas? <BR> <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/552092.jpg" alt="Upload">

shawnk 02-29-2008 10:15 AM

You could use a snap in grommet with a led pod or step light mounted in it. That's my 2 cents.

razzman 02-29-2008 10:19 AM

Take a peek at these evil: <a href="http://www.hellamarine.com/?t=3&amp;pcid=6" target="_blank">http://www.hellamarine.com/?t=3&amp;pcid=6</a>

this is a 06 vlx <BR>superbrightled very fast shipping and good customer service

my_malibu 02-29-2008 11:11 AM

evil one take the old tweeter cover and place a led behind it done nice a clean <BR>then you can also place a led under the 6.5 grill

epic_peachland 02-29-2008 1:40 PM

In my centurion there are two of these <a href="http://superbrightleds.com/specs/alm.htm" target="_blank">http://superbrightleds.com/specs/alm.htm</a> only they only contain 1 LED... as I want to switch to red ones I thought might as well go with the 4 or 6 LED ones...My question is are the ones in the link a direct replacement or will I need to re-wire...thanks and sorry if this is a stupid question.

my_malibu 02-29-2008 2:05 PM

rewire

razzman 02-29-2008 3:04 PM

There should be no need to rewire, just splice them in. They all work of 12vdc and the existing wire should be just fine as they draw very little current.

epic_peachland 02-29-2008 3:28 PM

Thanks thats what I was thinking Razzman.

evil0ne 02-29-2008 4:51 PM

Razz, I finally found a cheap version of your idea: <BR><a href="http://superbrightleds.com/specs/ulite.htm" target="_blank">http://superbrightleds.com/specs/ulite.htm</a> <BR> <BR>Craig...the new speakers are going to be black so the white tweet would bother me.

sarahpark 02-29-2008 7:45 PM

how are these mounted?? and how much would i expect to pay to wire it up like that? your help is appreciated

my_malibu 02-29-2008 7:49 PM

sarah depends on which leds you are using

05mobiuslsv 02-29-2008 7:53 PM

Sarah I got 10- 4 led pods, and 5- 5 led pods shipped for $50. Then whatever you think your time is worth.

sarahpark 02-29-2008 7:54 PM

most importaint how are they mounted so they dont look like s#@t

my_malibu 02-29-2008 7:55 PM

nu bu want pics <BR>see where you'll put the leds verses my install

sarahpark 02-29-2008 7:56 PM

that would be sweet if you dont mind

05mobiuslsv 02-29-2008 7:59 PM

I haven't installed them yet, I will be while doing the stereo upgrade. I plan on putting them in the same places you did for the most part. I got red one's.

my whole set-up cost $150 but i made my own wiring harness with disconnects at every LED so I could replace one easily if i had to <BR>the swim deck took the most time about 3 hours with hiding the wires in a new case and the epoxy set time <BR>the rest of the boat around a day ,should have been less time but beer and music slow you down <BR><img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/proud.gif" border=0> <BR> <BR>I placed them under the seats, above all the cup holders, rear lockers, glove box, front walkway, rear vents, swim deck, sub, front seat, amps, and bow <BR> <BR>54 total

65sanford 03-03-2008 11:33 AM

which model led did you use under the swim platform?

detonate69 03-03-2008 12:57 PM

I got mine last year from <a href="http://www.led-concepts.com" target="_blank">www.led-concepts.com</a> - No problems yet. Good prices also.

bird_dog0347 03-03-2008 1:08 PM

I just ordered from <a href="http://www.superbrightleds.com" target="_blank">www.superbrightleds.com</a> and I will let everyone know how it goes.

wake1823 03-03-2008 1:34 PM

I ordered some from <a href="http://www.led-concepts.com" target="_blank">www.led-concepts.com</a> too. Great prices, and fast shipping. No problems with mine in almost a year.

my_malibu 03-03-2008 6:11 PM

superbright <BR>no problems year and a half

my_malibu 03-03-2008 6:16 PM

phil lbm series from superbright very happy with them <BR>get a better affect with the luxarts but pricey

my_malibu 03-03-2008 6:18 PM

led-concepts very similar to superbright but I like that superbrights have screws to secure them <BR>comes in hand when mounting into carpet

sarahpark 03-03-2008 9:23 PM

so when you buy these lights do they come with the wires or do you have to buy seperate wiring harnesses?? I assume they are all wired in series and tied into the factory cabin lights. Im sure its a relativly easy install but just a little scared to mess up the new VLX if you follow.....lol

05mobiuslsv 03-03-2008 9:27 PM

They all come separate with like 3' wires on them. The ones that craig is talking about are different for the platform, they come in a string. You can then wire them all together since the current draw is so low. You can power several of them from where you once were running an incandescent light.

sarahpark 03-04-2008 6:21 AM

sweet thanks for all the help

my_malibu 03-04-2008 10:03 PM

the other leds come two wire about 2' long

my_malibu 03-04-2008 10:04 PM

making holes in a new boat is fun <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/clipart/crazy.gif" border=0>

65sanford 03-05-2008 7:50 AM

I ordered up my superbrights today--craig--how many LBM'S (if this is what you used) did you use under the platform and how does it look in the water--

my_malibu 03-05-2008 8:31 PM

i'm running 16 <BR> <BR>looks very good in water <BR>not as bright when the ballast are drained because the swim deck on the vlx sits above the water <BR>but when ballasted or moving lights up about 3 feet around deck and wake <BR> <BR>(Message edited by my_malibu on March 05, 2008)

norcalmalibu 03-05-2008 8:48 PM

hmm my boat is black with a purple stripe...what should I do rock the purple like its hot and order some?

mikeski 03-05-2008 9:46 PM

<a href="http://www.oznium.com" target="_blank">www.oznium.com</a>

captain_542 03-05-2008 9:48 PM

nate- black lights! woot. <BR> <BR>oznium is the only place on the internet where i found and smt flexible strips.

65sanford 03-06-2008 6:08 AM

I have a string of 15 coming--how did you protect the wire from module to module--I hope these come in today or tomorrow so I can do the platform over the weekend. We are going to hit 40 degrees on Friday up here and hopefully some of the 24" of ice on the lake will melt--getting cabin fever and anxious to get the boat out of storage--

my_malibu 03-06-2008 8:06 PM

phil <BR>if you want to go cheap get the heat shrink tape and wrap it around the wires the heat to seal <BR>or any cover you like. the whole system of leds are already waterproof <BR> <BR> or do want i did and use a braided wire cover and seal it with epoxy <BR>takes more time but looks better <BR>I dip each section in a pool of epoxy and let dry <BR>also epoxied the pods them selfs

my_malibu 03-06-2008 8:14 PM

nate ultra violet looks purple to the naked eye <BR> but be warned they are not very bright and get <BR> washed out easy ( carpet, etc ) <BR> blue, white, and red are the brightest <BR> <BR> I would go white really bright just put the LEDs in positions where they can cast shadows <BR>it would look really cool <BR>( speaker covers, seat lips, cup holder, etc

mayor_h 03-07-2008 4:26 AM

Craig, is there a benefit to using the LBM's over the WFLB, the flexible waterproof light bar? for my teak platform,do you think this would be a better choice? thanks. Your boat looks great, i wanna do something similar !!

65sanford 03-07-2008 5:14 AM

Nedge, i looked at using the flexible too--the light output is much less per LED--so I went with the LBM's too

wake1823 03-07-2008 5:50 AM

green is by far the brightests LED color

mayor_h 03-07-2008 10:11 AM

thanks Phil, that LBM module doesn't look waterproof......did you order any other LED's for your interior?

sigmodes 03-07-2008 5:11 PM

Malibu direct has some cool water proof leds. If the leds dont sit in the water they just reflect the light. So you get no Illuminations <BR>of the water. <img src="http://www.wakeworld.com/MB/Discus/messages/65921/554817.jpg" alt="Upload">

02byerly132 03-07-2008 7:19 PM

How do you wire up LEDs in the speaker grills like I've seen on here. Ive wired up my interior alright I just can't figure out how to do that part.

my_malibu 03-07-2008 8:59 PM

sam you're full of it green it not the brightest I know I have all the colors <BR> <BR>(Message edited by my_malibu on March 07, 2008)

my_malibu 03-07-2008 9:04 PM

reaves depends on the speaker grill it's self <BR> I just used one led epoxied to the underside of the grill facing the speaker <BR>works well <BR>If you want a ring of led have to use the flexable strip to make the ring or buy the premaded spacer ring with the leds already installed <BR> <BR>I only did this on the sub <BR> <BR>(Message edited by my_malibu on March 07, 2008)

my_malibu 03-07-2008 9:06 PM

nedge pods are brighter

my_malibu 03-07-2008 9:09 PM

sigmodes at around $100 they are bright but do not give a halo glow more like head lights <BR>don't get me wrong they look cool and light up the wake when moving very well

mayor_h 03-08-2008 4:36 AM

thanks craig. ok, so the pods are THE best for the platform......,what about those interior ones you have under the seats lighting the walkway; are they durable enough to take a cooler, board, foot, direct hit?

02byerly132 03-08-2008 11:07 AM

Craig...that's what I was thinking. My only question is how do you wire up the LED. Do you wire the LED to the speaker itself? That's where I'm confused at...

my_malibu 03-08-2008 6:20 PM

very tough I have 1 year old that beats the ---- out of them no problem

my_malibu 03-08-2008 6:21 PM

Reaves the single leds have a small wire that runs to them <BR>just epoxy it to the underside of the cover <BR>I ran mine though a hole in the speaker surround that was not being used
