Is a tower better than a pylon....How does the Pylon install onto the boat ..does it screw into the fiber glass at the bottom of the pole or just gets pushed there by the weight

i don't know about how the pylon goes on because i just have a tower on my VLX but go with the tower and wat type of boat do u have. Peace Out <BR>

Ok Paul. I think you dont understand how pylons work. There are Universal Pylons and Extended Pylons. All ski/wakeboard v-drive and direct drive boats have a ski pole. Its like a 3ft tall pole in the center of the boat specifically for skiing. Most Pylons are extending and basically fit over the existing ski pylon like a sleave. Then you attach a rope to the bow. Most universal pylons you have to screw a plate into the bottum of your I/O or outboard board for the pylon to sit in. Some just sit on a flat wood board or metal plate. I would recomend tower because they dont flex when you edge hard and keep the boat for swaying back and forth. Definately stronger and more reliable plus you dont lose space.

Paul, I aggree with Leo that towers are better. But being 15, Im betting you dont have a grand to drop on a tower. If you need a universal pylon, check this website out <a href="http://www.bigairpylons.com" target="_blank">www.bigairpylons.com</a>. <BR>Yes they do flex more, and yes when you cut hard you can actually turn the boat somewhat, although that is probably determined by what type of boat you are putting it on. But they do help tremendously. And you are saving yoruself about $700. Also check around on ebay. There is another company that sells out there. I second Ryan's advice. I have a friend with a bigair pylon and it helps out alot. However, if you don't want to drill into your boat and you don't want to spend $300, you can build your own pylon. <a href="http://www.bierbower.net" target="_blank">www.bierbower.net</a> has do-it-yourself guides on how to build a homemade pylons. My buddy and I built one for his boat by slightly tweaking a couple different plans listed there and we didn't have to put one hole in his boat and his pylon doesn't flex one bit. We only spent about $120 in hardware plus another $35 to have it powdercoated and voila. Good luck. <BR> <BR>Jb

I had a flyhigh when we bought our boat. After removing the floor panel, I discovered the reverse tension from the forward strap had pulled the bolts through the mounting plate. Luckily there is no wood in the area or else it could have been ugly. Needless to say, sold the flighhigh, picked up a tower. <BR>Worth the money - - and the look!
