Has anyone ever used "telecom" batteries to run their boat stereo?? I see that alot of tech guys posting on this board and was curious if anyone has tried them. I have access to some pretty high end "Telecom Central Office" sealed batteries, but don't know how they do when charging via an alternator.

Wondering the same thing. But these are a deep cell battery. I don't think they are designed for high current. High current = heat, are they designed for heat? The ones I've seen are 2 volt batteries. So you must put 6 in series. Very possible, but lots of wiring. Yes they are very good batteries, I just wonder how practical for boating application.

I have used the Dynasty 12 88ah Telecom batteries in my camping van for a couple of years now and they are amazing. They are an absorbed glass mat sealed battery, much like an Optima, just bigger. Use them with an isolator and you'll be able to run your stereo for hours.

Leaf,

Thanks! How are they when charging? Any problems? That's what I noticed, they're sealed, and they're BIG. I was just worried about them being charged by an alternator. Didn't know how they would react.
